Tournament odds:

Michael van Gerwen: 11/8
Gary Anderson: 10/3
Peter Wright: 10/1
Michael Smith: 14/1
Mensur Suljovic: 22/1
Rob Cross: 22/1
Daryl Gurney: 33/1
Gerwyn Price: 33/1
James Wade: 40/1
Dimitri van den Bergh: 50/1

Will MVG or Anderson reclaim the title? Cross to upset the odds again and defend his championship? Or will an outsider go all the way?

This year they are having women playing against the men and that should be interesting. I don't see many of them getting past the 1st round, and definitely not past the 2nd. On average, women throw much lower averages than the men's side of the game and that just won't do, especially in the World Championship Tournament.

I'll be watching the action as often as possible.

I don't see another Rob Cross type run this year with a relative nobody making it all the way to the finals. I feel pretty sure the finals will be with 2 long time, highly ranked pros. But, every year there are crazy upsets that change the tournament, especially if a top player is eliminated and opens up their side of the draw.

Holy shit that was impressive from Ashton. Won the first set 3-0 with two ton plus finishes, 2 of which were against the throw and an average of what must have been over 105.

Yep, Ashton looked good and the final score really doesn't indicate just how close that match was. You see 3-1 sets to Dekker and you'd think he ran away with it, but it was a tight match. Hats off to Ashton for putting on a great show for the ladies side of this tournament.

Can't see Cross making the semis this year. Too many players too well for him.

Although I think i remember that MVG and Anderson are in the same half and would meet in the semis so that gives him the easier half.

Well, so far, so bad for the ladies playing in the PDC World Championship games. Lisa Ashton lost 3-1 and Anastasia Dobromyslova (sp?) lost today 3-0. Not sure how many more ladies are in the mix, but it's not looking good if 2 of the best are out in the first round.

Not seen any of it so far, I got rid of sky sports as it is so fucking expensive. I'll start streaming it or going to the pub after Christmas when it starts to heat up a bit.

OK, so Barney is out of the World Championship for this year. What chance do any of you think he'll get an invitation to play in the Premier League???

As for me, he shouldn't as it would cause so many more qualified players who've earned a chance to play to be passed over, basically for sentimental reasons.

Yes, he's a former 5 time World Champion, but that streak ended years ago and it's been a pretty steady downhill slide since, and that performance yesterday was plain pitiful with him averaging in the 70's in the first and third sets of play. That is pub dart standards and not pro standards.

If the powers that be do extend an invitation to Barney, I would have more respect for him if he flat turned it down to allow a more deserving player a chance to shine in that meat grinder of weekly play. I have a feeling Barney would be nothing but cannon fodder for the other players if he was offered a slot and did play.

He shouldn't get an invite but I think he's a dead cert mate. I've never really been a fan but he's one of the most popular players and draws a crowd.

Who is that fat attention-whore wanker with the ridiculous stupid mohawk and dyed hair and scalp tattoos desperately trying to substitute for an actual charismatic personality? Fuck him. :bart

Peter "Snakebite" Wright. He has been turning up with that style of dress for several years now. He looks the clown, but that SOB can toss the darts pretty damn good. He's in the top 5 of the world right now if memory serves me right. He did lose in the first round in this tournament though and is done for the year.
