As a Spurs fan I suppose I should be hoping for an Orient win due to Edinburgh being manager however, he was a cunt as manager of Newport when they played at Wealdstone, so sod him!

For a fair bit of its history it didn't count for much. Initially it was unpopular then it became a route into Europe with the cachet of playing in a final at Wembley and for a few years had a bit of a golden period.

Then they called it the Milk Cup and it was all

:uwot
Then the Coca Cola cup.

Sounded like something your local Under 9's would play for.

No one gives a fuck for the league cup. Even fans of lower league sides aren't arsed for it. The year Bradford got to the final non of us gave a shit really until we drew Arsenal in the quarters. Before that its just an inconvenience and distracts from trying to avoid relegation..

The league cup has been a higher quality and more entertaining than the FA Cup for a number of years now.

Yeah this is actually true, league cups less disruptive to a league season so clubs go for it more earlier on whereas the teams everyone puts out in the early stages of the fa cup are a joke. That statement would have only been about top prem clubs a few years ago but its now basically everyone, lower league clubs dont even try for the giant killing these days just see FA cup draws as paydays

They need to get rid of the league cup for prem league teams.

Bring the FA cup earlier in the season (but keep final for end of May). Start 3rd rd in November and wrap up semis by mid March.

Bit of a random though/rant after reading about Bournemouth but it really is disappointing that there's such a negative attitude towards English managers. The job that Eddie Howe has done there has been phenomenal yet you won't hear his name mentioned when people talk about who should take over at Chelsea, United or a club like that. It's a shame how he can be so good for such a long period of time yet he still doesn't get the praise he deserves and if a club like Everton sack their manager, they'll be on the lookout for some Spanish manager who had a good season a couple of years ago, trying to catch lightning in a bottle again.

The fact that Howe and Dyche can have a slight blip and be put under pressure in the media is astonishing. These are two tiny clubs with no budget, neither would be more than a mid-table Championship team without the managers they have, yet it's like they still have something left to prove. The reality is though, the only managers in Britain who've done a better job with their clubs over the last 5 or so years are probably just Guardiola and Klopp, and even then, both inherited very good squads so it's not exactly a direct comparison.

Look at Chris Wilder too. A career win percentage of nearly 45%, he got Sheffield United promoted from League One and now into the Premier League but has he received anywhere near the plaudits that the Wolves manager did, under much easier circumstances considering he could bring a player like Ruben Neves into the Championship? Nowhere near.

Allardyce was right a few years ago when he said that if his name ended in an 'I', he's have been given better jobs. English managers don't get enough praise when they deserve it and they come under criticism too quickly. We seem obsessed with bringing in foreign managers and adapting to their styles rather than praising what we already have.
