I look out for their results and hope they do well in Europe as the Scottish league is pretty much a foregone conclusion. I like Celtic but I don't make it my business to watch their games like. There like everybody's second or third team. I only know one bloke who actually properly supports them as in he'll make time for the games and travel to Glasgow a few times a season to watch them.

I certainly don't notice as much Celtic supporters around nowadays. Used to be a time were you'd have loads of people with Celtic jerseys and people even asking were you heading over to Scotland for one of their matches. Pubs would of been full enough, especially for Rangers.

Now in fairness, that was was 10+ years ago. But even with the younger lads at work that are football fans. None of them give a shit about Celtic.

I use Celtic as a cunt gauge. The more a person "supports" Celtic over here the more that person is likely to be a cunt.

Noticed that meself. I had a couple of Celtic jerseys years ago. Was boxing up the north years ago and I was told to take it off by a coach up there haha. Celtic's support over here and interest in Scottish football died down after the Henrik Larsson and Martin O'Neill era ended. Well it seems like that to me anyway.

Why's that.
Could be a Dublin thing but any Celtic fan I know has turned out to be a utter cunt. They are nearly a stereotype at this stage. Guarantee they proclaim to love the IRA, consider themselves very "hard" and "hate Brits" while more than likely never having stepped foot in a club from their own league.

Haha I thought you'd say something like that.

What is it with Dubs and not following their local sides anyway. I was at the Cork City-Bohs game a few weeks ago and I'd say it was the most I've ever seen at Dalymount. The standard of football can be shocking at times in the Irish league in fairness but you'd imagine they'd get more or at least try to promote the league better.

People don't have an interest in building anything from the ground up. It would take at least ten years before you started to see the real benefits of the investment that would have to go into youth coaching from the League of Ireland clubs before standards started to really improve.

The days of the big English clubs developing our players for us are gone. It's why you have seen the standard of Irish players decrease pretty much every qualifying campaign now.

The FAI are far to corrupt to do what needs to be done in terms of youth investment so the only real hope we have is down to the clubs. However Irish football fans are so short sighted that they simply look at the standard the league is at now and say "I couldn't watch that shite" without realising that if everybody who took that attitude went down and supported their local clubs then yes it would take time but the standard would eventually improve as more players come through playing better football due to the increased investment in being able to coach the youngsters the club's would now have.

Instead though they want instant success so see Liverpool spending 75 million on a centre half and their eyes light up and immediately Liverpool become "we". Irrespective of if they could even point it out on a map let alone actually stepped foot in the place.

True I suppose. A few of the clubs themselves are badly run though. Hard to get flowing too if there's only a few hundred turning up to games on a Friday night. Still though I always say the FAI don't do anywhere near enough to promote the league and get more people interested. The games aren't on TV anywhere near regularly enough. The weekly highlights show was cut down from an hour to 30 minutes. There's no team where I live but there should be posters in sports shops of teams star players and various clubs merchandise. It all starts at the youth level though.

This performance here tonight is pathetic.

Fucking hell lads. Ireland were at home to Gibraltar, yes, fucking Gibraltar tni. We squeezed out a 2-0 win ( 2nd goal last kick of game too). Our one and only striker didn't get on the score sheet, against fucking Gibraltar. Guess who gets the man of the match award?

We've scored a total of 3 fuckin goals against lads who have to book time off from work to play. And if I remember right they very well might have got a draw out there if it weren't for Randolph. The result the and performance Friday night was decent but there should fines handed out if you don't beat these lads by at least 4.
