wow.

i know ronaldo from international and european matches. in some of those earlier clips he's a better henry rather than the better romario i had judged him to be(and that's still insanley high praise).
From 93 - 98 he was incredible.

Scored roughly a goal a game in Brazil, Netherlands, Spain, then Italy.

Then had a great World Cup at France 98 till he had a seizure or a panic attack or something.

Then got injured. Then completely blew his knee. Was out for ages and never the same player again. Still great though.

I remember seeing him play for PSV in the uefa Cup when I was a child. Scored a hat trick in a 5 - 4 loss when he was 17. Mental game. Highlights here.

that reminded me of adriano, but with andy johnsons ability to manufacture a penalty.

It’s entirely possible that even at 33 years old Messi is the best player to ever play in the Premier League, is he goes to City.

There’s always an element of uncertainty when a player moves abroad, but you would imagine he would tear it up as he’s been doing in La Liga for the past 15 years. He certainly hasn’t struggled when playing against the best the Premiership has to offer in the CL, so I can’t see him struggling against a bunch of mid-table clubs praying they scrape a Europa League spot, or the dross fighting relegation.

Personally I would like to see him move to City just to be able to watch him easily. Would actually give me much more interest in the Premiership if he was there for a couple of seasons.

Messi had one of his best ever seasons last year and has still been phenomenal for most of this one. He is just in one of the worst Barcelona teams of my life time. He would be the best player in the premier if he moved, because he is still the best player in the world.

Yeah that’s basically what I’m saying. Even slightly past prime it would be difficult to argue he’s not best player to ever play on these shores.

I can’t see a scenario where he wouldn’t be very successful. He might not be 40 goals a season successful, but he’ll almost undoubtedly be brilliant, and most likely head and shoulders above anyone else.

Agreed.

He finds it harder to fail than succeed when he has the ball. The only way he flops is if he doesn't get the ball.

So Liverpool's first penalty. Should it have been given?

Sky, Carragher, Souness and JFH, in complete agreement that it shouldn't have as it deflected off his knee.

BBC, Lineker, Shearer and Wright, in complete agreement it should have and didn't discuss it at all as they didn't even see it as controversial or a talking point even.

Apparently according to the rules it isn't a penalty.

I know he was very young, but he often played like that kid in school, who's position was wherever the ball was, too often He would drift too wide, too deep, it didn't matter because he was so explosive, but didn't do his knees any good

obviously i enjoyed palace united, but wtf were those 2 var decisions for the penalty? just because you are watching in slow motion does not mean the actual game was happening like that.

gotta stop using it at every possible opportunity. totally unnecessary and made the game less fair not more.
