I could be a cock and list all strikers who have become good managers
Cruyff and Clough cough cough but do agree its rare. I think the thing is ego and they must just focus on forwards and don't see the bigger picture.

Solskjær is still a baby in terms of being a manager 1-3 quality signings and they may have a real chance of the title next season.

I'm happy Oles stayed in the job. With him in charge, they'll never be challenging for anything really. It'll be fun listening to Utd fans calling for him to be sacked as soon as they lose a couple of games.
I don't know whether United will win the league with Solskjaer but I don't think he's the problem at the moment. Their squad is good but it's really lacking in a few key positions, which is made obvious when you look at how many United players would get into a combined United/City team or a combined United/Liverpool team. Who actually makes both of those teams? Fernandes, yeah, and maybe Pogba if he's on form? But that's it, both of those combined teams are dominated by City and Liverpool players respectively.

I think United should be looking at something like this for next year:

__________De Gea
AWB - Maguire - Koulibaly - Shaw
________Pogba - Fred
_________Fernandes
Grealish - Haaland - Rashford

That'd probably set them back, what, £250m? And I still don't think they'd then have a 'better' team than City or Liverpool but they'd be on par at that point, and with a good bench with the likes of Greenwood, McTominay, van de Beek, Lindelof, Cavani and so on, then Diallo, Mejbri etc. possibly coming through. I think Solskjaer has done a good job getting rid of some of the dead wood at the club but there's still some left and getting rid of Jones, Bailly, Mata, James, Martial and Lingard would make a statement.

They're close I think, but it's quite reminiscent of Liverpool before they signed Allison and Van Dijk. They need to make sure they bridge that gap with an aggressive spending in summer rather than hold back and do what a club like Tottenham has always tended to do, by getting close and then not pushing over the line by swapping out your weakest links with world class players.

Grealish and u are talking a big push for the title I rate him very highly and we should build the England team around him. Haaland whoever signs him is fave for the Premier league.

Sancho I just don't think will make the leap to Premier League.

Grealish though what a player best thing he ever did was play in the Championship.

Most other clubs would have sacked him by now, the vast majority of united fans have backed Ole through the tougher periods too

Ole is seriously deficient in a number of ways compared to the top managers, but he's understood the club, his youth policy is good, his transfer policy is good, he plays good football when players click and he's not made many excuses that most other managers make

HITC Sevens and Tifo Football are the two best channels for "serious" content on YouTube. Alfie is fucking brilliant.

No Dias today he’s on the bench. Not fancying Laporte v Son, our run might come to an end. Still good to see Kun on the bench.

:rofl Have just read a couple of posts above suggesting Grealish will be a United player next year. There's few things I can guarantee in this world but one of them is that he will not be at Old Trafford next year except playing against United.

Next year he will still be playing for Villa, you can take that to the bank. The media do their utmost to flog him to United week in, week out and have been doing so since last season.

His response? Sign a five year contract with the club he has supported all of his life, has been with since he was about six and which is now owned by two highly ambitious billionaires, one of whom is the largest shareholder in Adidas who make a shitload of money out of their sponsorship deal with United. Which makes more money for Nassef Sawiris to invest in Villa to keep Jackie Boy happy. Thanks, United. :good

Missed the spurs game yesterday, but i knew we would lose...i know hardly rocket science lol.

But its the manner we lost, slipped to 9th now, and its obvious there's huge probs in the camp.

I wanted Jose to do well, but its time he went now. Think we eill lose Kane and others to end off season.

If Grealish has ambition he goes to United or one of the big 6 sides.
:rofl Look at the table and learn your history. They are a game in hand won from 6th/5th and have always been one of the big 6, regardless of league position or league played in.

They are on the rise again, bankrolled by very astute billionaires and he knows it and intends to be part of it, which is why he signed a five year contract last year and said as much when he did so. And when he did so it was in the expectation of in no way achieving what the team has achieved so far this year. Just like the year Villa were promoted, this season is a year ahead of expectations.

So, dream on all you supporters who want him in their team. He is as fanatical a Villa fan as any out there and he's living the dream in the knowledge that his team will be as likely as any in the top 6 to fulfil his ambitions over the next 5 years.

Grealish will show ambition and leave.

The reality is, Villa aren't going to be a top 6 team any time soon. They've only just come up from the Championship, they have a long way to go yet and even if Grealish wants to stay there, they can do more with that £80m or so that he'd go for than he offers them. That money could be spent in the same window on them breaking their transfer fee, twice.

Villa are a good project but Grealish is ready now. If he wants to be in the Champions League and trying to win the Premier League, he can't stay at Villa. Even Harry Kane isn't doing that at Spurs and look at what they've done with the managers, the transfer spending, the stadium etc..

What will the outcome of all this cv19 bollocks be for the transfer market? Are we going to see far more swap deals than normal? Look at the state of Barca, Madrid etc. They'll surely be looking to offload x amount of their mega earners. I read a BBC article about Ramos looking for a 2 year extension on his 12 mil a year contract! You're 35 pal. There's the door.

Liverpool/Leipzig is still 0-0 but I'm impressed with the way Liverpool have played so far. They look sharp, they're creating plenty of chances and putting pressure on Leipzig. They're not playing with the shackles that they've had in the Premier League.
