"Good afternoon everyone, as Lill(...slurred words...) I'm Joe Biden's husband, Joe Biden."

He misspoke.

He often introduces himself self-deprecatingly as Lily Biden's husband, Joe Biden.

In this instance he meant to say:

"As Lily already said, I'm Lily Biden's husband, Joe Biden."

Instead, as he had already said her name in the first part of his sentence, it came out...

"As Lily already said, I'm Joe Biden's husband, Joe Biden."

He said JOE instead of LILY.

Hardly evidence for a diagnosis of dementia !

Here again, a very straightforward explanation.

Watch the complete Huffington Post video.

Before he came out to take the podium, his wife was on his LEFT side.
He was holding her hand with his LEFT hand.

After he let her hand go rmoved to the podium, his wife moved around to his RIGHT side and his sister took up position at his LEFT side.

He addressed the crowd without looking behind him, and when the time came to introduce his family members, he was still under the impression that his wife still on his LEFT, where she had been.

You'll notice that he doesn't look at his wife directly when he says..."by the way, this is my little sister, Valerie..."

As soon as he looks at Valerie, he recognizes his error and corrects the introduction, stating correctly that..."they switched on me."

Which they indeed did.

Listen to the actual speech from the same event and see if you spot any real dementia.

You have special gift. All I understood was "Joe Biden".

Elizabeth Warren.

But it looks like it'll be Kamala Harris. Kamala Harris, who got the dog shit kicked out of her in the primary, may be on the fast track to becoming POTUS.
Whoever gets the nod has a major leg-up to POTUS position in 24.

I'm hoping he picks the other Liz, or if not, then Pocahontas.

Unfortunately, I think Kamala is the frontrunner.

Dealt with.

See above.

"you know, the thing"

Again, what's sometimes called a brainfart.

He probably couldn't remember if it was the preamble to theAmerican constitution or the Declaration of Independence.

I recently forgot Shakespeare's name in a quiz.

I am very familiar with the bard and I'm not demented.

Yet.

heres one from just yesterday where he again forgot where he was

Again, a very minor gaffe which I have already stated that Biden is prone to.

A far cry from dementia.

now you may be right and i may be wrong. he might be perfectly coherent and im fine with that.
im just wondering what specifically you would need to convince you hes well on the slide.

I would be worried about dementia if he came out with a sustained burst of what was patent nonsense, especially if he persisted after being corrected.

If he talked about a recent chat he's had with George Washington or Abraham Lincoln, and was serious, I'd start to worry.

(The other geriatric in the upcoming race thought that Fredrick Douglas was still alive, but I put that down to ignorance rather than dementia. :smile )

As I already stated in the post to which you initially responded, I think he has always been gaffe-prone and of late, at 78, is now also prone to 'senior moments.'

We have heard many more similar utterances from the current POTUS, and again, he is handicapped by age-related moments of forgetfulness as well as ignorance of matters on which he never knew much about to begin with.

Neither man is demented.

YET.

No, I explained in the last paragraph of my last post.

Sustained nonsense, even in the face of correction.

Certainly, it would require more than a mis-speaking or a momentary lapse of memory.

I remember when Trump went off script and decided to muse on the time when George Washington captured Airports.

If I thought that the Donald was at least as informed on American history as the average 12 -year old in my country, I might have suspected dementia.

But here again, he either miss-spoke (very possible) or he didn't know that there were no airports in late 18th century America (also possible).

Not demented.
