Do you UK'ers tip your service people after they're done doing the work?
How fuckin dare you??

But naw, do I fuck.

The tipping culture here in the US is very much a US thing. I'll tip back home in restaurants...but that's about it. Might let a barman keep the change if it's less than 50p on a big round though.

Think he meant GB'ers.

Have you seen those things that ask you if you want to tip while paying by card? Cheek of it.

Champ got a banging tip once. The moron fits kitchens when he’s not losing fingertips in saws or chipping teeth with buckarooing drills, and he fitted this fucking beaut of a kitchen for some rich old bat. No expense spared.

Just as he was wrapping up after this £20k job or whatever it was, he said his goodbyes and went to the front door.

“Just you wait one minute young man, you don’t think I’d let you graft for 6 days and let you go without a thank you!”. And she waddled off into the living room.

Champ was rubbing his fucking hands together, what’s left of them anyway the clumsy cunt, thinking he’s in for £200 cash as an absolute minimum on a job this size.

The old boot reappeared, thanked him again, and gave him a banana.

Australia
So just moved into a new apartment over the weekend and the strata cunts have already complained about our bbq!

Telling us we aren't allowed to have an 'open flame' bbq on our balcony!

WTF it's a fucking stock standard charcoal bbq where we use a couple of fire lighters that burn for no more than 5 mins to heat the charcoal. After that there is no flames at all the cooking is done from the radiant heat of the charcoal. Open flame? the fire lighters are covered with the charcoal and everything is contained within the barrel. We don't even use those over processed heat bead things only naturally charcoal so it doesn't even smoke much.

We can have a gas bbq though apparently. Which ironically requires a constantly burning flame to be going to keep the hot plate at cooking temperature.

It seems though I thought I was only moving a couple blocks, I've actually moved out of Australia to some bbq hating country.
This is an outrage.

Nah, there's been an uptick around my parts here in Northern Cali of people "tipping" their service/support people. Like, your cable or heater or water is having a problem and once the technicians come out and are done people give them like $5 - $10 cash as a tip. I don't see the point personally, they're probably getting paid great wages and I'm giving thousands to their companies every year for the service so I'm not down with it. But a lot of people around here are, it's strange.
Fuck that, they should pay us for being held hostage by their vague arrival windows

Some bloke gave me £100 and I didn’t do anything special for him, the you get the cunts who you go out of your way for and listen to their boring stories all week long with a smile on your face and they give you fuck all. Some bloke recent kept saying “he will see me alright” if I cut in an oak window cill for him, nothing to do with the job I was doing, he just bought it and didn’t want to risk it. Did it, got in bang on, the cunt gave me a fiver. A fucking fiver. The fucking nerve. That was a £25 tip minimum. Course I said thanks a lot and smiled and clicked my heels on my way out of his house so as not to cause offence.

Yeah, £5 is an insult. Nobody even uses fivers nowadays.

It is quite good to be doing a job where it’s possible to get a tip though, they don’t even come into play in 98% of jobs.

Is this a thing then? If I'm paying thousands, likely 10s of thousands to have the builders in working on something, there's absolutely no way I'm even considering giving a tip if I'm honest. Unless they do go really out of their way to do something extra or whatever, but if it's just the job I paid for then fuck it.

Fucking hell, a fiver? Giving someone a fiver is actually more insulting. If you're gonna tip someone, tip then fairly or don't tip them at all.

As for the banana, I would of just refused. Old or not, it's about time she got a reality check on how fucking tight and insulting she is.

If it's a big contract job ,then no, prob wouldn't tip unless you started adding to scope of works and getting the lads to do extra jobs here and there, that warrants a decent tip imo, if someone is good enough to agree without reviewing the contract.

For one off jobs, I would almost always tip. Usually it's my mates doing jobs for me at mates rates and I tip on top. Like, one of my mates installed my home alarm at about 60% of the market price. He couldn't of been making any money for himself really. So I tipped him 25%. Think he quoted 400 for supply and install, and I gave him 500. Still saved myself 200 quid and gave a mate some work.

Aye, that's a bit different, man. I got a guy in my work to cut a few of the trees at my house down/back. I'd have paid a pro $500 easy. This guy was an arborist before injuring himself and he only charged me $130 so tipping him an extra $2 was the least i could do.

If it's a tradesman I've had come in and quote for work then am I fuck tipping him.

I just finished a 12 grand kitchen about an hour ago and the old goat gave me a £50 tip. It’s not on every job, maybe once a month, but I do tend to go over and above what they’re expecting, I’m clean and tidy and polite, it doesn’t seem like much but I’ve worked alongside loads of tradesmen who you just wouldn’t want in your house for that long. I’m just one charming mother fucker.

Being tidy clean and polite is the least I'd expect from someone I'm paying to work on my house tbh. No chance anyone's getting a tip from me for doing that.

Yeah, I don’t disagree with that. The last few jobs I’ve had people in to do have got about a £20 tip if I thought the price was reasonable aswell. But then again I like to think I’m not a tight cunt ‍♂. I don’t agree or disagree with it to be honest, it’s down to the customer.
