Just got back from Disneyland. Squeezed cheese on multiple people. Could have sworn I saw Johnstown, but half of all white males over 40 look like him so I don't know. I basically saw hundreds of awesome dads who fit the Johnstown description doing what good dads do.

What I'm saying is no matter how awesome you are we're all going to look like hairless gorillas in the future.

Since we're all wrapped up here in the Trumpy Saga you might have missed that India's new citizenship law that does not include rights of Muslims. Leading to many mass protests. Leading to some horrific beatings of students by police across the country with impunity. Which will lead to more violence, persecution and bloodshed for the next few years.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
India just redefined its citizenship criteria to exclude Muslims

With a new law — and massive new detention camps — the country is undermining its status as a democracy.

India is home to 200 million Muslims. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they have faced mounting threats to their status in the majority-Hindu country. And on Wednesday, they were walloped by a new worrisome development: The upper house of India’s Parliament passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).

The legislation turns religion into a means of deciding whom to treat as an illegal immigrant — and whom to fast-track for citizenship. The bill is being sent to President Ram Nath Kovind for his approval (he will almost certainly sign it), and then it will become law.

At first glance, the bill may seem like a laudable effort to protect persecuted minorities. It says Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians who came to India from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan won’t be treated as illegal. They’ll have a clear path to citizenship.

But one major group has been left out: Muslims.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Police officers swept through a university campus in New Delhi on Sunday, injuring hundreds of student protesters and firing tear gas on those who had run into the library for safety. Videos show police beating students with batons. Some students have been shot, and dozens are hospitalized.

Observers say the protest at Jamia Millia Islamia University, which has a majority-Muslim student body, began peacefully. But as police officers entered campus by force, some protesters reportedly threw stones at them. Buses and motorcycles were set on fire. Law enforcement stormed past the chaos and into buildings where other students were hiding.

“The police barged into the girls’ hostel, they barged into the boys’ hostel,” said one young woman. “Students were running around to save their lives. Is this democracy? Where are we living?”

Another young woman said police — yelling “sluts” and “traitors” — chased her and others as they ran to the library for shelter.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But by all means, keep gluing yourselves to the shit show that is the Trump saga. It's not like you really care for anybody but yourselves and your shithole political parties anyway. :bart

Okay.

So I just tried the Impossible Whopper (plant-based non-meat patty) from Burger King about an hour ago. It actually wasn't bad at all. Didn't exactly taste 100% like meat, there was something a little off, like a bean or mushroom taste but I did enjoy it.

There's a problem though. Feels like a major wind storm or violent projectile diarrhea is going to be shooting out my ass soon. :verysad I'm bubbling and brewing like Mrs. Potts big time now. Oh dear lord I this isn't going to be good. :sad5

I have a problem often where as soon as I've eaten something it comes straight back through me. As a consequence I have to be careful when I eat things as I might get stuck somewhere where there are no toilets (on the tube or on some trains in the UK). It's not fun.

Does anyone else just find Christmas a bit overwhelming. I really don't enjoy the day that much at all but all I see is how happy everyone is. I have a meal with family and presents etc but it just seems like such a stress.

I got two presents this year from my parents, a scarf and the Tyson Fury book. I didn't buy them anything as they have everything, house, cars, cash.

I haven't had anything to eat today as I'm not hungry, my folks are away at the coast so I'm here on my own.

Christmas is a corporate disaster. Selling shit to people who can't afford it. I went by the supermarket yesterday to buy some ale and it was madness, people buying fuckloads of everything because the shops are closed for one day. Here the shops are open until 12am.

As for the whole shebang, the whole everything, I couldn't give a fuck about it. It's Wednesday and it'll turn into Thursday in a few hours, then life continues.

The present aspect is the worst thing about it, having to buy people stuff they don't want. I'm not tight I don't mind spending money if someone wants something, but I hate buying things I know they won't want, just because the day forces me too. I dont like people spending their money on me either, I got the Edwin Valero book that was mentioned in here though. I don't have a super close family and Christmas day just feels so forced.

My parents have openly said they don't want presents at Christmas, cards for birthdays. I'd willingly buy them if they wanted them, but they've said it would go to waste, and wouldn't want me to waste my cash on them. I'm not a tight cunt, if I have money in my pocket and someone is skint they can have my cash to help them out.

Christmas is so shit.

I bought the Valero book the day it came out, same with the Tapia book. Both great reads. Valero was a madman, I have no idea why I like(d) him so much.

I was working at about 5am on Christmas morning. A guy called up saying he cut his ankle bracelet off an hour ago and he accidentally sliced the fuck out of his leg, it's been bleeding heavily since then, he feels lightheaded and weak, he was alone in the house and he didn't want to fall asleep and bleed to death. He wanted to know if he's allowed to go to the hospital, or will he get arrested. Yes and yes, is the answer.

So how was your Christmas? Was it better than that guy's?

You should have sent him an ambulance and solved both issues.

Yeah he got both.

Wonder how it turned out. He sounded in pretty bad shape. But he was drunk as well, which is obviously worse for bleeding, so he did the right thing by calling up. Very much not the right thing by taking a butcher's knife to his ankle bracelet on Christmas morning though.

Christmas is my fave time of year. Having kids makes it magical. It also always brings up so many great memories from my childhood. Seem to have been remembering a lot of folk and family that are no longer with us too which is nice.

The day itself yesterday was spectacular. A 5 year old son made it that way.

It was unseasonably muggy today, and there was a distinct haze in the air. From the fires in Australia. Fuck, they're big. Never been able to sense them from New Zealand before. :yikes

Went outside in the afternoon, and everything looked sepia toned. Was bizarre. (Not my photos).

But yeah, climate change...... not a thing, certainly nothing to worry about.

For context, I am as far away from Sydney as Dallas is from LA. It's a greater distance than someone standing in Vancouver, Canada, smelling the smoke and seeing the haze in the air from the fires in Los Angeles.

Or if you prefer, standing in London and smelling the smoke and seeing the haze in the air from the fires in St Petersburg.

I hate buying presents or just shopping in general but I've actually come up with a decent system for this, whenever I visit the bookstore I buy books in bulk, books that should work for most people in various ages, then have them giftwrap them all boom done! You now have multiple anonymous gifts waiting at home that are actually good gifts without robbing yourself blind, it's even quite fun giving them out on birthdays and such cause I don't even know myself Wich one I'm giving away :good

Have you heard the term 'man-splaining'?

You have your own ESB version of this. Hag-splaining.
