Dunno if I should say this aloud (is this mic on?), but I kinda found myself, to my surprise, watching The Queen's Gambit again. Hot damn what a show!

Also watched few episodes of Kingdom, a low-budget, low-key, low-acting quality but honest show about ghey fighting (in octagon). Notice the word ghey, not to mix it up with gay, which is totally cool with me, muscular cunts grabbing each others hairy nut sack and calling it a sport is not however. I guess it's cool but I'ma now watch the pilot of Warrior, which is some sort of Chinese-American kung-fu action series that's supposed to be good. Hopefully without hugging on the floor and other ghey shit.

I gave Black Sails another go earlier because Treasure Island is such a good story, but I always struggle to get into series' where everyone is so...perfect. These are meant to be rugged sailors who've been fighting at sea for years on end and yet everyone looks like they've just come off a catwalk. Vikings annoyed me for that same reason, everyone is meant to look edgy or sexy rather than...a fucking viking.

Shows The Sopranos, The Terror, Game of Thrones or The Wire have it right, they don't try to create a ton of red carpet stars, they just focus on people who fit in well.

Kingdom is excellent, as are the characters and actors who portray them. Jay and Keith are both hilarious and tragic.

Damn shame it's been cancelled after three seasons.

Watching HBOs the Undoing

What's that like? Seems the type of show where I would either loathe it, or get right into it. Love me some Donald Sutherland though, and he's in his 80s so you gotta enjoy his performances while you can. In this one, is he a kindly old man or a ruthless, cruel piece of shit? I prefer ruthless, cruel piece of shit Sutherland.

'Dead Wind' is worth a watch. The lead female cop has similarities to Saga from 'The Bridge.'

The popularity of the Saga seems to have sporned numerous similar characters.

Yeah Kingdom season 2 was fucking class. Telegraphed its punches on the big twists but stayed true to the human characters it focuses on. Now I'ma check who's behind it and who among the character had real training. The Jay actor appeared in Hannibal and Justified among other things and always plays the psycho, but he's definitely got depth and is by far my favorite. @Redzer

Obvious Justified SPOILERS!

Just finished the undoing. A Sky/HBO crime thriller with Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, Donald Sutherland and a young lady who keeps getting naked.

It is a bit silly, but it's good fun, and Grant and Sutherland are excellent.

I found Kidman a bit distracting. She seems to be changing into Kinski from Nightbreed.

Thought about starting to watch that, this may have tipped it. You seen Big Little Lies? I thought that might be good to watch with the lady.

I'm currently halfway through a NZ miniseries called "Black Hands", which is a dramatisation of New Zealand's most famous "whodunit" murder case, the Bain family murders. (Though I don't consider it a mystery about who killed them.)

Basically either David the weirdo 22 year old shot and killed his mother, father, brother and 2 sisters early one morning...... or Robin the weirdo father got up and killed his wife, son, two daughters and then himself, while the oldest son David was out doing his paper run.

I'm near on 100% convinced that it was David, for various reasons. But he was found not guilty in his retrial, and it's an interesting case.

Side note - the show, book and podcast are all called "Black Hands" because of an offhand comment David made about the house feeling oppressive in the weeks before the murders. The title annoys me, because the murders happened at 65 Every Street in Dunedin. So it seems like an obvious title, to call the podcast/series "Every Street." But they didn't. :conf
