Things you've just bought

  • CHB will be closing down as of 31st July 2021. It's been a brilliant experience to run the website for the past 9 years, however it's time for me to move onto different projects. Thanks to every single person involved, from staff, former staff, posters old and current. All support means more than anyone knows. Thanks for your understanding.

Got some store credit. Probably going to buy a Nanoleaf Canvas in a couple of weeks. Totally useless and way WAY overpriced, but cool. I tell you guys, two years from now my house will not have a single non-coloured light. Good for parties though, to be fair. And for just sitting around at night. Gonna put these in a long strip above the bed, and use them as a nightlight (they're touch-sensitive, of course.) I'll set them so they slowly fade in with a warm sunrise orange over ten or so minutes in the morning, to wake the missus up gradually.

A work crew doing plumbing work on my street from the local Sewerage & Water Board left a couple pieces of old lead water supply pipe that they had to replace by law since lead water supply pipe is now banned. I picked the two pieces up and cut them into much smaller, more manageable pieces to melt and use to make lead sinkers for fishing. In all, the 2 pieces of pipe weighed 65 lbs.

I have a burner and pot sufficient to do the job but needed a nice pouring ladle and a sinker mold to make the sinkers and purchased them a couple days ago and they should arrive at my house in the next week or so. Once here, I'll start making my own sinkers in 2, 3 and 4 oz. sizes. Doing the math, I should be able to make around 110 of each size considering slag loss from the melting process.

(it doesn't flick through the colours like that - you can choose from a bunch of them, and then it stays there until you change it)

I did a bit of LED's strips on my old desk when I refurbished it and build a monitor stand for the 3 monitor setup I had. It was an nightmare cabling-wise. Went to to a more simple setup with a single ultrawide monitor and no LEDs.
