Things you've just bought

  • CHB will be closing down as of 31st July 2021. It's been a brilliant experience to run the website for the past 9 years, however it's time for me to move onto different projects. Thanks to every single person involved, from staff, former staff, posters old and current. All support means more than anyone knows. Thanks for your understanding.

I did a bit of LED's strips on my old desk when I refurbished it and build a monitor stand for the 3 monitor setup I had. It was an nightmare cabling-wise. Went to to a more simple setup with a single ultrawide monitor and no LEDs.

Pffft.

I just like to have blue and green and pink and purple lights everywhere. I come home from work in the morning, close the living room curtains, make the whole room green and lie on the couch playing videogames for an hour.

(it doesn't flick through the colours like that - you can choose from a bunch of them, and then it stays there until you change it)

:hat
Turns out you can't change the colours on this thing manually, the button on it is for light brightness. It fades between all the colours in its spectrum, you get maybe 5 seconds per colour before it fades into the next one. Which actually looks surprisingly awesome. I love this stupid $4 accessory. Highly recommended.

Got some out door solar decorative light globe things

They were actually quite expensive. $83. Could have gotten something similar for FAR less from Kmart or somewhere like that. Though I am hopeful the higher price translates to better quality. Will find out tomorrow when I hang them up I guess.

Lights are starting to come together. Bottom right are the newest, they're going to be arranged in a different pattern and put above the bed. They have all kinds of fancy settings, responding to noise, touch controlled, all that shit. They're a stupidly expensive gimmick, but in person they actually look really cool and I am like a little kid when it comes to colourful lights.

Pretty happy with my purchase. Got them up yesterday. Only had about 2 hours in the sun before it got dark but the lights still came one and while not super bright were brighter than expected. Stayed on for hours as well so I'm almost expecting them to last all night tonight.... happy to see they aren't just static lights as well. They flash at varying speeds.

Looks good!

I don't blame you for putting all the lights out!

I've got a RGB led strip I ran along my balcony roof that flashes and has the whole colour spectrum that I love getting on when I'm having a bbq outside.
Also I've got a disco light thing and the RGB flashing light globes in the lounge room. Not to the extent you've gone to but I definitely can get a party/disco vibe going around at my place.

It's fun to have them on even when I'm just chilling having a few quiet beers on my own after work lol

Yeah it's something I really do like. I spend a lot of time with the living room green, for some reason I just find that really calming and relaxing. I have it set so that 2 minutes before the missus' alarm goes off in the morning, the living room lights start a 10 minute fade in with a warm sunrise yellow, so that when she gets up it's not too harsh but after a few minutes it's reached a warm yellow on full brightness. Shit like that is not necessary, it's an overpriced gimmick, but it's an overpriced gimmick that my brain really responds to for some reason.

Bought a cheap pot from a Thrift Store yesterday to melt lead to make sinkers with the ladle and sinker mold I got delivered a couple days ago. I made 20 each of 2, 3 and 4 oz. size sinkers yesterday evening before it got dark and barely put a dent in the lead I picked up a couple weeks ago when the city was changing out old water lines going to houses on my street.

I decided to not use one of my pots since they are far too good to melt lead in, and once you use a pot for melting lead, you definitely don't want to use it for cooking, so a cheap, nice heavy aluminum saucepan was bought for $6 from the local Goodwill store.

That also cost me my last spare change and put a dent in next months budget :yep

The reason you don't see any chairs yet is that I can't afford them yet but the table was on sale so I thought fuck it
As long as you’ve got something to sit on, the nicer matching chairs can wait.

I think it’s safe to say I’m growing up these days. I get super excited when I see some sweet furniture or I know I’m about to go out and buy a new appliance lol.

Bedside lamp for the missus arrived today. IRL the glow is a warm yellow, not a harsh white.

Thats sexy where did you get it?
Just from AliExpress. Cost fuck all, and there's a million sellers peddling them in there. No doubt they'll be all over the Internet too.

She loves it. It actually looks really nice, too. Very peaceful thing in its look and general ambience, and an appealing soft glow that's easy on the eye if you're half asleep. There's a couple of options for the style of the LEDs, having 108 of the fuckers is the best-looking one I reckon. :thumbsup

On the cusp of buying this little beauty
Fuji x100v I want a smaller everyday camera to compliment my DSLR which is a bit to much for most occasions.
