What a bunch of spasticsWheelchair athletes with spinal injuries will sometimes intentionally injure themselves on the lower body (e.g. break a toe), causing their bodies to respond by raising blood pressure and enhancing their performance. This practice has been banned as cheating.
It’s called autonomic dysreflexia and happens because when you have an injury below the level of your spinal cord injury, your body can’t react to it completely. The area above the injury essentially overcompensates and the rises in blood pressure and body temperature can be very high and very fast. People have died from this problem.
I think I knew that, man.
Aye that's weird.I think I knew that, man.
And i can actually imagine him singing that but Nothing Compares 2 U is such an iconic Sinaed O'Conner song, man.
What's even fuckin weirder is that I actually learned this last night from some singing show that a guy said he was doing Prince's version...then today I came into that thread about bands with frontwomen and seen someone had posted this very fucking thing.
So from having no idea my entire life to seeing it twice in a matter of hours.
LEGO has Star Wars, that guy was an idiotOften we learn little things. Often they are even quite interesting. Post them here!
For example, I just learned that Lego don't make military sets, because the creator of Lego felt very strongly that he didn't want his toys to make war seem like something fun for children.
If you learn little things, add them to our collective pool of forum knowledge.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. The volume of water including vapor on Earth is enormous and a lot of it has probably never passed through humans before.Today I learned that every bottle of water you drink has pee particles in it from people who lived generations before.
On the Joe Rogan Experience, Neil deGrasse Tyson said: “Given enough time… when you scoop up any cup of water… that’s water that has passed through the kidneys of Abraham Lincoln, Genghis Khan, Joan of Arc, Socrates, and Jesus!”
On reflection, I suppose it’s pretty obvious but that was the first time I’d actually thought about it. He may have been lying about Jesus though.
