This is a complete backflip on their long held policy of automatic disqualification due to his EDL affiliation. Or any person with a similar background.I don't agree with Gerrard Batten on this move, it seems fucking stupid and counter productive... although I agree with a lot of what Tommy says that the nasty side of Islam and the social and security problems that it comes with needs to be tackled in a more open, honest and blunt way. This isn't the way to do it, let Tommy join the party by all means but to make him an adviser gives any opponent of UKIP the perfect weapon to use against them.
Even Farage has come out and disavowed the party over this.
Yep, it's brought the ire of long time UKIPers too, bringing in popular Youtubers like PJW, Dank and Sargon was a good move, it brings them loads of fresh blood members and younger members but even that could have been touchy with the older UKIP members, this move is simply shooting themselves in the foot. Tommys name (to use an SJW-esque term) is too toxic at the moment. Every time UKIP are mentioned in the mainstream press now it will be preceded by "who appointed far right Tommy Robinson as an adviser", how Batten couldn't see the implications of this. This is a complete backflip on their long held policy of automatic disqualification due to his EDL affiliation. Or any person with a similar background.
UKIP is smearing shit in their own eyes by doing this and delegitimised themselves by changing their own rules in the middle of the game.
I like Tommy but this move makes it easier for his detractors to name-call and less likely to debate him.
You saw what happened to the last guy who called him that, "what's my name"? Boom, pop...True, it's like that Cassius Clay fella, running around trying to pretend his name is Muhammad Ali ... whose he trying to kid, eh?
Your names Cassius Clay, stop lying about your real name Cassius.
