I can't help but get excited over Star Wars but I'm still not expecting anything with how the last one delivered. True that the title sounds fanmade. Anytime something with "Rise of" in the title, it tends to be pretty lame. So far though, it looks meh to decent.

Haven't even seen Solo yet, that last non-spin off one was pure shite.

Put me right off the franchise.

I'm watching Princess Leia lesbian tickle bondage porn from now on, because that's definitely what Carrie Fisher would have wanted...

Im not sure people care as much as they should since the last movie was so bad it sent the franchise down the swanny.

Rey dodging that flying car was pure cheese and is probably a good indicator of wheat we're in for. . Awful character imo. She'd be more suited to playing a charterer on Eastenders than being the lead in Star wars.

The same way WWE has to constantly recycle and cameo Attitude Era stars from a bygone past due to not developing sufficiently interesting modern stars, Star Wars has to rely on the perpetual bringing back of characters and sets from the superior movies and to cash in on pitiful nostalgia of fat aging nerds.

Bringing back Palpatine now is indicitave of how sloppy and thoughtless these sequels have been and how utterly desperate the people responsible for the films must be. They just haphazardly bumped off Snoke who could have potentially been developed into an atg star wars character and are now left for the final installment without a proper arch nemesis/evil character worth bothering with. Kylo Ren has been in emotional turmoil pretty much throughout so they can't start now developing him into true evil so now there fucked and are having to bring back the emperor. Desperate as fuck.

What a colossal balls up these sequels have been. I honestly think that in time the prequels will be held in higher regard.

I thought Solo to be a better, more fun movie than any of the Star Wars since Episode VI.
Really? I got half way through it and stopped watching. I found it all a bit lame. That female robot was the last straw. 10 minutes or so of that and i switched it off.

I wanted to be hyped for this but I'm not the last movie killed the franchise for me. I liked Force Awakens but the Last Jedi took a huge dump on the first movie and the franchise as a whole. I know they've gotten JJ Abrams back for the 3rd film but he's got his work cut out on this 3rd film to overcome the hatchet job the 2nd film did on the story he laid out in Force Awakens.

the thing is, the Force Awakens wasn't even that good. general consensus at the time was it was a promising start... but revisit it and it's really not that good. In other words, why would there be any expectation the third movie will be any good when JJ's first stab at it was no more than reasonable, and the second movie was complete shite?

Agreed FA was just solid, predictable and basic, but enjoyable and well paced with likable characters, but compared to Last Jedi it's a masterpiece of cinema.

I mean I just don't get what they were thinking with Last Jedi. The 2 best aspects of FA was the chemistry between Rey and Finn and the mystery behind Rey's past, but then in Last Jedi they barely had Rey or Finn in any scenes together and then just wrecked Rey's back story. Who the fuck does that!
