they show the protests in Florida were insignificant in RAW numbers, compared to the rest of the nation, and, further, that they are insignificant in per capita numbers given Florida is the third most populated state in the nation
No, they don't "show" that... this is a standard that you fabricated out of nowhere and are trying to pass off as an established fact.

people in the rest of the nation are the same as people in NY and parties have gone on in every state..............so thats a variable thats THE FUCKING SAME everywhere, thus not a variable

see how that works?
No it doesn't, because this isn't a controlled environment where a variable would be guaranteed to have the same effect across the board. Hence, it's wrong to dismiss the protests as a driver of the virus just as it would be to dismiss parties/bars as a driver simply because the effects aren't exactly the same nationwide.

prove me wrong

I gave you the numbers

compare the Florida STATE number to the New York CITY numbers, for example

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Floyd_protests_in_New_York_City

Protests of 10k and up happened for days on end

Youve got the numbers,we have reached the point where you at least seem to understand my original............um................point...........and yet you dont ACCEPT it...............and youve not tried to use the data to make a counter point

well,youve convinced me :good

I see

So we can assume that the 'parties' in NY were much bigger and corona riddled than those in florida because..............um.....................why?

I mean,we cant assume people are more or less the same everywhere in the nation but we CAN assume that NY has a totally out of control party situation nobody is accounting for? A problem the rest of the nation doesn't have because you feel it to be so?

You SUCK at this

The idea that a protest has to measure up to the size of NY's before it can be considered "significant" is still purely YOUR OWN fabrication.

... but we CAN assume that NY has a totally out of control party situation nobody is accounting for?
It isn't "assumed," and local leaders here have acknowledged issues with it quite a few times.

A problem the rest of the nation doesn't have because you feel it to be so?
Show me where I made any claim like that.

so the answer is no

you disagree with my point, which you didnt understand, but you cant make a coherent counter-argument

well done

at least you learned what 'no [insert object] to speak of' means, right?

so we made some progress today

tomorrow we can do some basic math and show how ten thousand plus demonstrators for several days straight in NY city is different from 1300 people in the entire state of florida, once,OK?

rest up,yer gonna need to be in top form to manage those kinds of figures..............

:rofl

meanwhile he has done nothing but make it easier for the 1% to exploit the working classes, going after unions, labor protections and giving the 1% a massive fucking tax cut

but hey,NOW he agrees wealth inequality is a problem

90 days before the election

90 days before the election he is trailing in the polls for by record fucking numbers...............

seems totally legit

based on this, his death bed conversion,Ill vote for him because what could possibly go wrong?

I mean, other than the dystopian hellscape thing he has already created.....................THAT could go wrong, but could it go MORE wrong?

I think not,amirite?

So a protest has to meet a certain number of persons to be considered a protest, and a riot has to have the right measure of destruction, before it's an actual riot?

Sorry, I didn’t know the question. I was under pressure too, and watching TV.

This Umbrella Academy is pretty good, y’know.
never heard of it

Im on the porch smoking pot and reading Generalissimo,a bio of Chiang Kai Shek

I cant tell if yer the most effective troll on the site or genetically engineered to make me fucking insane............

republicans..................'conservatives' are trying to limit voting access the same way they always have because lower turnouts favor republicans...........and the measures are SPECIFICALLY aimed at people more likely to be democrats...................and,MORE SPECIFICALLY,black people

just as the same sorts of measures have ALWAYS been used, throughout our history

and no actual 'conservative' on these boards will honestly address it because they are giant weeping pussies

PS - this ak-48 strain Ive begun to harvest is fucking killer.................

It’s a bit comic-booky but it’s worth a watch. Not read that book but did cover a bit of him in history at school.

I answered ‘Republicans’ above, even though I was half-guessing what the question was, but you did the head-banging emoji........and then responded with ‘Republicans’. ........so I making a wild assumption here that I was right and you clicked that emoji, rather than the ‘whoo, hoo, let’s party’ one?

no

my question was about WHY the 'republicans' are super concerned about voter IDs............WHY are they pushing these laws?

we know WHO it is

I want to know if you really think their motive for the 'why' has changed since 1965 when they got banned from changing the laws because of their out of control racism.........

In my defence, as I said earlier, apart from voter ID, I’m not sure of what other tactics are currently in use to promote voter suppression. I need to look into that element a bit deeper before I can give an honest and fair answer.

*just had a quick scan.

Ok, so 2008 was the tipping point. Record turnout and the voter participation gap between White & African-American voters was 0.9%.

Voter suppression legislation includes:
  • End highly popular Election Day and same-day voter registration
  • Limit voter registration drives
  • Reduce opportunities for voters to register - ID requirements
While every effort should be made to increase voting opportunities for all citizens, and let me make it clear that I am not in agreement with the three points above, I’m not sure how they would stop anyone wanting to vote, apart from the cost of ID (which should be free or means-tested at the very least). That may be ignorance on my behalf.

As we’ve discussed. Voting should be mandatory, using whatever technology is available; phone, email, Internet, post vote, proxy, in person. How difficult would it be for a party that holds both chambers to enforce similar voting laws that we have in Australia, for example?

you can also add gerrymandering and the elimination of polling places, especially in crowded urban areas to the whole suppression thing

voting can be difficult and take HOURS if you happen to be in a place where they want it to be so....................and the working poor dont have time to stand in line for hours on a workday...........

look at Georgias election a few weeks ago.................I posted the story for you..............people in line all fucking day..................BY DESIGN

and those, with yours, are just off the top of my head

oh yeah, also some states refuse to let convicted felons vote after theyve completed their sentences.........

now add em all together and a multiplier for the very specific focus of this stuff and we have a very real problem,eh?

no way in fuck we get mandatory voting by mail or internet.....................THE WHOLE POINT is to suppress the vote because it favors 'republicans'..................you think they are going to pass something that would most likely need a constitutional amendment?

FUCK no

we would need 2/3 of BOTH houses of congress............

no fucking way we get it by the republicans as,even if totally out of control, they will have at least 33% of one of em,eh?

they stop EVERYTHING..............we are literally held hostage by a backwards minority....................
