In a deplorable basket
Boris seems like a douchenozzle, at least from a somewhat distant and foreign viewpoint. I think I'd rather have that Farage guy in charge over there, at least from the Special Relationship viewpoint. He seems to be OK with Trump, if I am getting the info correct over here. This isn't to say that Farage is good PM material, BTW, I am only speaking from a UK - US cooperation perspective.
There are millions here who would rather Farage was PM now. The 2 "mainstream" parties - 2.5 if you include the pathetic LibDems & Greens - have done a truly spectacular job over the last three years of killing their own golden goose. Their shenanigans have roused a somnolent, lethargic and usually docile populace and got them looking at what they have been allowing to run the show for them.

The hateful pygmies they have spied, scuttling and grubbing and weaseling, demonstrating staggering incompetence, alloyed to an appalling degree of arrogance and condescension, has caused a massive swell of anger and radicalisation. Farage polarises opinion in the way Trump does but, just like The Donald, he has a big percentage of the vote believing he is the real alternative to the same shit that has been dealt for decades.

People are realising that the current party system and the way Britain is governed is a fucking con. They know they have been conned for a long, long time and that their parents were conned before them. But, to further prove their own stupidity, arrogance and belief that even if you can't actually can fool all of the people all of the time, enough of the people only stay pissed off for a short period and they think they can just ride this out and carry on regardless. However, they've done fucked up big style this time.

Sounds very much like our situation here in the colonies. The ruling "elite" have never been seen so clearly for what they are - greedy, corrupt, power-mad imbeciles that don't give a single shit about the country or the people. They caused Trump, as a reaction to their sloth, greed, and all-around incompetence, and they are so stupid they don't realize it. They really have zero self-awareness among them.

There is none, I’ve never seen @Major Pain post anything racist, this is haggis again making up shit to suit his agenda, to smear other posters.
The Rudder, like the rest of the lunatics on the left are desperate to regain the upper hand in the arena of thought and ideas. Twisting words and outright lies are fair game in the war for the mind and soul of humanity. Fortunately for the rest of us they're not very bright and always end up hoisting themselves on their own petard.

Mexico won't control its northern border? Trump slaps a Tariff on them that will increase depending on their own actions. Christopher Steele, of the Russian collusion delusion, refuses to cooperate and face questioning on said topic? No problem. Trump talks to the Queen and Steele sees the light. Deft applications of power, gentleman, and Trump understands how to operate from positions of power.

Seemed reasonable to me.

Criticize retard...votes for other retard.

Was intredasted in how else that could be perceived...but obviously it's not worth explaining. Which is not a cop out. No way.
I think Pedders point is that there's nothing really unreasonable about Trumps tweet at this point, CNN are partisan hacks for the US Democrat Party (as are MSNBC) and have peddled a Russian Conspiracy theory for the past however many years and run almost wall to wall negative coverage of Trump, the New York Times have instructed their reporters not to appear on Don Lemons show because they're considered too partisan.

They are in free fall at the moment and it's their own doing.

Trump isn't actually wrong when he calls them out for being fake news, when do CNN actually do any real journalism anymore?

They are the 2019 equivalent of the Bush Jr/Obama era FOX News.

Trump is visiting Ireland today. Specifically a rural village called Doonbeg where he owns a hotel/golf resort.

A national radio station sent a reporter into the village for a report. In the village of nearly 1000 people they could not find one single person to come on and bad mouth Trump.

Whatever your thoughts are on Trump it was actually pretty funny listening to her practically beg people to bad mouth him and the locals simply refused to do it. Not one single person in the entire place would.

Eventually she did say that she did find someone who dislikes him but she refused to go on record..........Yeah sure you did.

I think Haggis point was far more general than that.

People, many on here, labeling and laughing at what they perceive as retards and explaining how they are unelectable/not fit for office because they are retards, whilst they vote for and even champion Trump, who is undoubtedly a retard. These people don't appear to see the hypocrisy or double standard.

As for fake news. There is blatant lies, misdirection and fabrication from numerous outlets but that isn't Trump's definition of fake news. Trump's definition of fake news is ANYTHING that is anti Trump, whether it's accurate or not. Fuck, take his recent comments on that Meghan Markle lassie. It was recorded, ffs, and when he was asked about it his response was that it was fake news. Ridiculous, really.

Which takes us back to the original point of the people, many on here, calling out lies from the media, politicians and other public figures as unacceptable whilst they are more than willing, excited even, to swallow the constant lies Trump spits out.

That's the general point here.

Then I'd say they're both correct, Haggis on the general point and Pedders on the specific point about CNN, if that's what he was driving at.

But I'm going to defend Trump on the Markle comment because I personally believe that was taken out of context, Trump had been nice about Markle just prior to this and then a reporter said to him that Meghan Markle had been very critical towards him and what did he think about this, Trump responded in his very Trumpian way with a comment "oh, I didn't know that she was nasty", paraphrasing here because I don't have the exact quote but to me that meant he didn't know she had been nasty towards him. He then went on to compliment her again which I think backs up my point.

It was reported far and wide by the press that "Trump calls Meghan Markle nasty", when that's not really what he did, there's a clear difference between saying someone "was (being) nasty" and saying someone "is nasty", I mean that's open to interpretation, he says things in a malformed way quite often, but that's how I took the comment when I actually heard it come out his mouth.

Edit: But that's another good example of how the media will deliberate interpret everything this guy says in the most uncharitable way possible, I agree it's pretty childlike language to use "someone was being nasty to me" as opposed to "someone was being critical of me" but this is how he speaks, in this basic grandpa type way, he just opens his mouth and talks but there's a percentage of people out there who do prefer this, to say, the very careful politician type wording you would normally hear.

Well, on @Pedderrs. I'm really not sure what his point was. That's why I quoted him, to elaborate. His response was that if I didn't know then there was no point explaining. But it doesn't seem like you're sure of his point either. Meh.

On the Merkle comments, if that was an isolated incident then fine. But we both know it isn't. He compulsively lies then when he is called out on it his persistent cop out is "FAKE NEWS". If you don't see that then I'm not really sure what to say. It'd be like I don't even know you at all :(

And for the record, I 100% agree with you on the media. They're farcical in their coverage of Trump. But, as you alluded to, we've seen the same from Fox news on Obama. I actually think CNN are nearly as bad but maybe that's just my exposure to them now, which I never really had to Fox. But that takes me full circle on the Fake news nonsense. If Trump's definition of fake news was based on anything close to the accuracy of reporting then surely he'd label Fox the same as CNN (and others). They're now two sides of the same coin yet he only attacks one. Surely this proves that Trump's fake news aren't those outlets that lie, mislead and misrepresent, fake news is the outlets that don't cover Trump favorably. The label has lost all validity.

Finally, if you look at Trump's fact checking he is undoubtadly the most dishonest person ever to take a prominent, Western, seat of office. That I'm aware of, at least. For his to accuse anyone of being fake or liars is utterly outrageous and, tbh, does he even deserve 'fair' coverage at this point?

I don't want to speak for him but I'm pretty sure that was his point, he can correct us if I'm wrong.

It wasn't an isolated incident for sure, there are tons of incidents where he has both said something and then lied about it as there are tons where he's said something and the media have just presented it with the worst possible spin on it. Can't bring to mind specific examples of either at the minute though.

FOX actually had a really fair and decent segment on Sanders not so long ago and Tucker Carlson doesn't seem to be some corporate schmuck like Bill O'Reilly was back in the day, they're still biased as fuck and batting for the Republicans but I feel they've got far better since the "terrorist fist jab" days, CNN imo have overtaken them as the batshit pseudo news outlet of the day.

But you're right, Trumps fake news is often just criticism of him, whether fake or not and he's going to outright ignore any fake nonsense from FOX if it's beneficial to him ... I think all we're saying here is that mainstream news outlets are rotten to the core...

As for all this fact checking stuff like Politico, I don't keep up with it or double check it, I'll probably check the Markle thing on there to see what conclusion they reached, that'll tell me how biased they are in the first place but let's face it, they've only been doing this for 10 years and I'm not even sure if it isn't hyper-focused on Trump and his admin?

If we went back in time a couple decades to the start of Bill Clintons campaign and Politico gave him the same scrutiny they give Trump, I'd be interested to see just how well he ranked then, or Hillary or Bush for that matter.

Well, i'm both relieved and reassured that we don't seem to be disagreeing on too much here, actually.

No need for specifics. Like I said, I actually agree with your take on the media. Almost 100%. The only slight issue is that CNN, whilst utterly abhorrent and seemingly intent on moving away from their actual mission every day are still not as bad as Fox, man. I know that's hard to believe as the CNN nonsense gets more exposure just now due to the Trump context but Fox is like a fuckin' parody, man. CNN are now in that sphere though.

I don't really watch either of them other than clips on Youtube, CNN bothers me more because I actually used to hold them in high regard, I guess I do hold them to a higher standard than Fox... MSNBC were always just Fox on the left, CNN and CNBC (of the Yank outlets) were meant to hold the middle ground .. might have been I was just naive back then though and they were never like this at all..

CNN to me is just the Fox news of the left... If you even want to call them "the left". More like the neo liberal left. And fox news is just the neoconservative christian right. I don't think there is a true "middle ground" news outlet to be honest. It seems like they all have an agenda.

Don't understand why people even bother watching the MSM anymore, they have all been exposed to such an absurd degree, whether it is Fox News with the Obama Birther Kenyan Muslim garbage or CNN with the Russiagate nonsense, they all peddle lies and propaganda to the point that they should be boycotted until they reach a certain objective standard. All of this has lead to the rise of independent media which is a good thing.

I've seen you post vids from tim pool, jimmy dore, styxhexenhammer, & sargon.. I would consider all of those guys to be superior, more objective sources compared to CNN, MSNBC, fox, etc.
