***UFC!*** The Authentic Official Israel "The Last Stylebender" Adesanya Undefeated, Undisputed Middleweight Champion / General MMA Thread

Who do you WANT to win? (Not who do you think WILL win)

  • I want the Fighting Irish to win

  • I want the 209 to represent again

  • I just want a good, action-packed fight like the last one

  • Test to see if I can change the poll?

  • Are these options 4 and 5?

You just can't beat this sport. Next weekend we get to see Shabazyan fight the ultimate gatekeeper at 185. The next weekend we get Chandler vs Henderson 2. I don’t know who else saw the first fight, but it was anxiety enducing just to watch! Chandler blew himself up right away, and continued to somehow hold on and fight out of terrible positions and won the fight.

Henderson looks to have figured out that Bellator isn't a bunch of backyard brawlers and is putting in the effort to gameplan instead of just being a cardio monster who complains that he wasn't tired at the end of a fight. He's obviously old, but i think with the right supplements he might have 1 run in him. Can't believe I did boxing sparring with him once. Lol.

Not much needs to be said about Chandler. GOAT LW to never touch the UFC. At 34, I think the time where he's gonna challenge someone like Khabib or Gaethje is over. I also don't think he'd enjoy dealing with USADA. He might do it anyway if the UFC is offering him a nice 3 fight retirement tour, but...I'd rather he stay and see if he can't get that title back from one of the Pitbulls.

Sorry for the tangent there, fellas. After that we've got the fight to possibly determine the GOAT at UFC HW with so.e great talent showcase fights on the undercard

Yoooo did you hear when he freaked out on him when he let that one fight go when dude was clearly out with his arm in the air as he went dead?

I was like...good on you Dan. Brits may not be the best in MMA, but I think they consistently make some of my favorite people around the sport.

I'd take 1 Bisping or Hardy over 10 DCs (as a commentator or podcaster) any day of the week.

So first picks for Costa va Adesanya?

After last night, I'm going with Adesanya. As upsetting as his fight with Romero was, and as confounding as his fight with Gastelum was, there's a lot of good to learn.

He made Whitaker look like an amateur. Whitaker can say he wasn't himself all he wants, but looked like roughly the same guy last night, and it was a wonderful fight.

As horrible as the fight with Romero was, that might have been the most convincing win that we've seen over Romero. He was able to control the distance and timing against someone that no one can control. Costa went right at Romero, and hats off to him, but he arguably deserved to lose the fight.

My opinion is likely to change over the next month, but that's how I feel right now

I am going with Israel because I think he has beaten better fighters.

However, Costa is a powerhouse and he has a real chance here.

I don't think Israel will be able to control the distance vs Costa because Costa does not fight at a low workrate like Romero. Israel will have to fight him toe to toe.

Ah I thought that link would embed the video.

Jorge Masvidal has been part of a 8 part docu-series about his life. First half hour episode is free. Looks like you've got to pay for the rest.

TBH I don't see why people think Herb is one of the best he has always been Mazzagatti and Lavigne level bad. Saturday night his negligence was absolutely shocking and Dan is fully right to criticise Herb for his actions

i think if you rewatch the KO, the dude with his arm outstretched also says something whilst he’s down, wouldn’t be surprised if that was a verbal tap or a ‘No mas’ moment

Agreed. I appreciate that it is such a hard job, but some of the things he misses, and his general lack of consistency is bewildering.

We've caught Herb Dean falling asleep more than once, but I think he is right in saying the commentators went a little overboard. My favorite refs are Marc Goddard and Dan Miragliotta. They seem to be the most consistent.

I'm not sure that they went overboard in being upset. I get it. I 100% take his point about telling to stop the fight in a crowdless venue. Only adds to the confusion

I never really understood people banging on about ‘Big John’ being such a good ref, I saw him fuck up a few times and nobody mentioned it because he was supposedly the best ref. Then he retired and Herb Dean took the exact same role for some reason.

It’s a tough job but I don’t think Herb’s the best ref at all.
