Who do you WANT to win? (Not who do you think WILL win)

  • I want the Fighting Irish to win

  • I want the 209 to represent again

  • I just want a good, action-packed fight like the last one

  • Test to see if I can change the poll?

  • Are these options 4 and 5?

So UFC 254 is shaping up into a monster card. Have a look at this for a main card, Tony vs Dustin is not finalised but it's targeted.

Khabib Nurmagomedov (c) vs. Justin Gaethje

Tony Ferguson vs. Dustin Poirier

Alexander Volkov vs. Walt Harris

Robert Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier

Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Yair Rodríguez

Rafael dos Anjos vs. Islam Makhachev

Every fight on the main card is a legitimate main event (okay, a couple of them for Fight Nights, but still.)

One fight at a time always has to be cursed. The door has finally shut on Khabib-Tony. Zabit and Yair pick up where Khabib and Tony left off. :thumbsup

:hat
I still think there’s a chance of Khabib vs Tony happening IF they both win.

Even if it does, the gloss is off. Gaethje is clearly The Man To Beat in the LW rankings now. And Tony is 36 years old, and coming off a fight where he got his ass brutally beaten for every minute of every round. I mean, that fight could have been mercy stopped at any point after the 2nd. He didn't win a 20 second stretch of that fight at any point, he looked old, and he was visibly cringing away from Justin's punches. His mystique has been squashed - Gaethje appears clearly the more formidable threat now. :thumbsup

Too many fights coming up where I don't want to see either person lose, or I have no idea what's going to happen. I don't gamble, but I'd win more bets than I'd lose in MMA. No idea for upcoming cards.

Yeah, definitely. I just wish it’d happened 5 years ago.

Yeah MMA sucks for that. It's the downside of continually booking fights between two relevant guys. Even one like Poirier-Hooker - do you want a fan favourite and respected good guy of the sport to get back on track, or do you want a scrappy underdog/overachiever with an exciting style and tons of grit and heart to come up with an unexpected signature win? I was cheering for Hooker, but I am always pulling for Poirier as well because how can an MMA fan root for Poirier to take a bad loss and big step back in his career? :sad

I'm sick of Holly Holm. Can we have a women's #1 contenders match without her being in it? She's 39 years old next month, and she's gone 3-5 since beating Ronda. Why is she never more than 1 fight away from a title shot in any division she wants?

Holly Holm's last 5 years:

* KO2 Rousey. Awesome. Legendary, iconic moment in the sport's history.

* Lost the BW title by being submitted by Miesha Tate.

* Lost to Valentina Shevchenko.

* Gets a title shot for the first women's featherweight belt, coming off of two losses. Loses to de Randemie in a terrible fight.

* Back to bantamweight, beats Bethe Correira.

* That's enough to get a shot at Cyborg for her second shot at the featherweight belt.

* Loses to Cyborg.

* Beats Megan Anderson. That gets her a shot at Nunes for the BW title, even though Holm has one win at BW in the last four years, and that being Bethe Correira. Gets squashed in one round by Nunes.

* Beats Racquel Pennington, and now she's in a #1 contenders matchup with Irene Aldana.

What the fuck???

Holm is 1-5 in title fights. At this point, she has lost a title fight to literally EVERY woman who has ever held the UFC belt at 135 OR 145, other than Rousey and herself. Now she's one fight away from going 1-6. Enough already. :fire

They like her, and these divisions lack star power. It's lazy booking because they don't want to invest in trying to create something if they can get away with spending that money elsewhere. I agree wit you

Nunes has first round KO/TKO wins over:

Cyborg
Ronda
Miesha
GDR
Holm

And 2x decision wins over an undersized Valentina. Goddamn. When you see it laid out like that - Valentina is a beast.

Yep.

I just wish they did it with someone who - if they switched in a promotional cardboard cutout of her to stand in for her during an Embedded episode - that you could actually tell the difference. Every time I see Holm, I just get the strong feeling "this woman likes to train a lot more than she likes to fight or to entertain."

I literally ignore and skip all of the WMMA news and fights on the cards. It’s just not interesting at all.

I expect you to be cheering my girl Angie Overkill in a couple of weeks! She's on a good run, she got robbed vs Gadelha last time out. :bart

I pay attention to 115 and 125, but that's it
I get hyped for the Lioness. She's pretty much everything you want in a champion. Fights everybody, embraces the big challenges, she's a fucking wrecking machine in the cage, and she seems humble and easy to cheer for outside of the cage. Happy to see her on any PPV.

And her fight with Cyborg is one of the greatest one round shootouts in MMA history. Listen to how the crowd is on fire even before the bell rings, and they scream the roof off the place when she staggered and then dropped and KOed Cyborg. Plus, look at the vicious combo of flush power punches that finished Cyborg. Every one of them landed perfect. Beautiful, thrilling fight. She hurt Cyborg right away, then she was on her like stink on shit. :thumbsup

Nunes is more man than I am.
But if she was up for it I’d still go down for a chew on her.

That’s how much I respect Nunes

I absolutely love me some Amanda Nunes
