Usyk To Fight Povetkin or Takam For Heavyweight Debut

At this point Povetkin is past it, which likely is why it's being made. Not that I underestimate Usyk or doubt his ability to capture a HW strap. Can't see Povetkin dealing with Usyk's mobility. Sasha has never been the same fighter, even on the juice, since he was mauled by Klitschko, in a fight in which WK should've been disqualified.

Man, I really like Povetkin, but this fight would've been a lot better a long time ago. I still think Povetkin is dangerous, though.

Good start for Usyuk at HW, Povetkin can bang but Usyuk will just overwhelm him.

Reports are saying he will fight Povetkin or Takam, why Takam? He poses no threat at all that is a terrible fight hes coming off a Chisora KO loss aswell

Still, Usyk isn't someone that needs 'protecting' -- even if it is his heavyweight debut.

I'd be disappointed if they went with Takam.
He has to start somewhere in the HW division though. Going straight for Joshua or Wilder isn't going to happen. Takam is a name, with names (wins and losses) on his CV which help the cause of Usyk.

I would have thought Takam would be a good first up for Usyk at heavyweight.
Not sure what Usyk gains from it.

Takam isn't much bigger than guys at CW, has no power and has been soundly beaten by every decent fighter he's fought.

I'd like to see someone who presents some sort of stylistic threat to Usyk to actually prepare him for the division.

This sport is starting to get shitty again, Wilder vs Fury II is off due to politics, we get AJ vs Miller, Andrade vs Saunders isnt happening neither is GGG vs Andrade next, Thurman's not going to fight Spence until 2020 and Arum won't let Crawford fight anyone from PBC, Usyk fighting a HW that is smaller than a CW which makes no sense

Fair play to Canelo for not fucking about and fighting Jacobs plus he might fight GGG straight after
