Thieves broke into a museum that is shut because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The thieves even stole it on his birthday!
Come on now, that's genius.
failMeh, I don't really give a fuck about famous paintings. We have enough of the pictures online, so it's like a DVD that you copied to the cloud. It's already preserved a million times over.

prob stolen on order.how do you sell something like that?
what kind of movie villain BUYS it?
seems a bit of a waste really....................hope its recovered and not damaged.............
Its not stolen in order..Always seemed completely fuckin pointless to steal art like this. Unless you're getting paid handsomely by some rich Arab or Sultan to do so.
Well I'm defo in the minority but I think Van Gogh is well overrated. Sure he catches moments that I can see but moments are something most painters see and try to portray.
His use of colours is vibrant and he's got a rushed style plus I think his life struggles add to his brand.
But arts definitely in the eye of of the beholder. I just see far better artists capturing far better moments.
Painters like Constable are in my view a million times better. Both the moment and the quality.
Even then, I quite often wander into art shops when out and about and some of the artwork on display is simply put, stunning. Either mastery artistry brushwork or stunning moments.
Value aside I'd take a giclee print of a Van Gogh and an original canvass from one of these shops that I like anyday.
And I also can get tied up for hours, literally....hours upon hours just browsing Artstation and some of the stuff you see there simply blows your mind. I seriously recommend you go on a visual walk-about to one of those places if you've got time.
I can imagine there's a certain amount of bragging rights with this sort of stuff. Probably end up on some Russian/Yakuza/triad members mansion.https://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/17/magazine/what-is-the-value-of-stolen-art.html
seems the dif motivations we have said are all possible, plus the stuff about it having value within the underworld is intereting and makes sense.
