All these fight cancelations are soooo shit!

These boxing promoters should just bite the bullet and do them in empty stadiums. The majority of people will be watching from home anyway
I think the lack of medical care is a big issue. No ringside doctors and no available beds.

It would be irresponsible, and I can't see any commission approving it.

How did the UFC get around it?
Surely they can have “essential” people there. But no crowds. Have an ambulance on standby.

Man, sucks for the profit margin of promoters. Boxing would be doing ridiculous fucking numbers with the quarantine. Arum was dumb not to put on those "no audience" shows when he had the chance. It is wildly irresponsible, though, like @Bob Weaver mentioned. Uh, I miss watching boxing, though. I feel like that's the thing I miss the most with the quarantine.

September!? Man, if boxing were in direct competition with the UFC, they'd be fucking buried right now! UFC making shit happen like Elon Musk while boxing waiting around twiddling its thumbs!
Modern boxing is a joke.

Again, he's way fucking behind, September!? MMGay is already on, pro wrestling is already on. WTF is Arum waiting for? I have no more sympathy for COVID-19. People already forgot and are destroying cities. Pretty sure we're way past the point where this is anything significant anymore. Just put on boxing. People don't fucking care about shelter-in-place orders anymore.

The answer is in the tweet.
Arum is waiting to put the fight before a crowd not in an empty arena.

I don't fucking understand the point of that. You might as well wait for the sun to collapse into earth too. Just makes no sense considering MMA has made it work. Pretty sure they're doing great numbers right now. Wrestling has shit the bed, though.

Pretty much, I just really need my boxing fix. UFC just doesn't do it for me. I miss my Saturday nights! Getting flashbacks to the fun I had watching Canelo/Golovkin and Ruiz/Joshua!

The UFC is a singular entity though. Everyone comes under their rules.

So they developed their covid safe plans and everyone follows them or aren't a part of it. It's as simple as that.
Boxing has to many stake holders and to many different entities, promotional outfits etc etc to deal with. Makes complete sense it would take longer to get things back on track..

It's just a problem of how disorganised the sport is in general.

The UFC having a monopoly on the MMA world has it's problems for sure... but regarding Covid, the monopoly is a big positive for the fans.

I think it's harder for fans of others sports like tennis or motogp racing where most every tournament/race is mouth-watering. 9/10 pro boxing fights are an anti-climax because of judging/refereeing/mismatches/etc.

The crowd-less Top Rank cards have been pretty entertaining, especially the last one. In fact, it's great to be able to hear the sound of the punches, and the corners shouting instructions during the fight. I love it.

I guess they need the ticket sales to cover costs, but heck they could just pay the fighters less. It's still better than waiting another 6 months to a year for most of the big fights.
