I wish black people with voices in America could call out those troubled in the community. Call us out on our issues (black on black crime, violence, staying outta the system, etc). It would be good for someone popular to come out and say for once "Keep your black asses outta trouble and stop killing each other". We don't want to hear it from somebody that isn't black, but black people with a voice don't do this outta fear of backlash. Obama had his chance and still does as of now. I'm waiting for that day.

I’m white but I think I might just identify as black, albeit momentarily

So in that context I must tell you, keep your black arse out of trouble & don’t be a cunt

Men should be able to walk away from a pregnancy within the same time span women have to have an abortion.

With the vast amounts of "set it and forget it" contraceptives available to women that are much more effective that condoms, along with the plan-b, abortion pill, and adoption. No reason the man shouldn't have a choice in the matter.

Special needs people that will never be able to wipe their own ass should be put down. There is no quality of life for them not the parent

Quite a progressive stance. As shocked as I was hearing this for the first time, I think it be a step in the right direction and gone will be the days of women trapping men with babies. It's not fair.

I remember I almost got trapped after a one night stand... The girl didn't want me to get a condom from my buddy in the other room with her friend. I pulled out and came all over her legs. Wiped her off with my boxers

I then was shitting bricks at the thought of being trapped with her. She avoided the morning after pill and avoided a pregnancy test for the next couple of weeks (I was 21 and pretty inexperienced about child birth and sex). I'd drive across town to give her a pregnancy test and then she'd say "shoulda came earlier I just peed" :patsch.

She finally took it called me early the next morning and told me it was negative. I ghosted her. A buddy saw her working at six flags a few months later and confirmed no bump. So I dodged knocking up a girl ten years ago.

On these boards, seems like me being a Christian and a somewhat scientist, no less... and in the biological/biomedical sciences, no less. Anyways, seems like having a religion is unpopular on here.

If you ever worked in Special Education (I did for three years) you'd probably realise that this is one of the silliest statements you've ever made.

The two are separate things, Mex, and not necessarily contradictory.

Science makes no claims about religion.

Well, at least not unless religion makes some ludicrous claim about reality, like the earth being 6 or 7 thousand years old or some such.

Science explains HOW reality works, not WHY.

Science explains the mechanics of our universe, but is mute on its ultimate purpose and meaning.

That's where religion takes over....purpose and meaning kinda stuff.

Being an atheist, I don't believe there IS any purpose or meaning, other than what we ourselves construct.

But that's just me......I could be wrong on that count.

As I've said before, I can separate the two. I've never been one to mix work and personal issues. I just notice that this place has a lot of hate towards religion, which doesn't bother me. I'm just sharing a view that seems to be unpopular on here.

A few months ago, I would have agreed with you.

But now that the Goat no longer roams these boards, I think at least half the anti-religion sentiment has abated.

I don't care about other peoples bad news unless it affects me.

I've never seen the purpose of starting a family.

I don't care if what comes out of my vehicles exhausts ruins the lives of future generations.

Pandas should be left to go extinct, if they are incapable of fucking themselves off the endangered species list then maybe they don't deserve to be here.

People who watch TV shows all the time are wasting their lives.

Because it's the 21st Century, man. And you're out there claiming that magic is real and Harry Potter is a real guy and Hogwarts is a real place.

Also, you pick and choose which bits of your fairytale you actually subscribe to, and which bits you wash your hands of because it's just too ridiculous. I mean, you're a scientist. You don't REALLY believe in the Great Flood and the entire human population being reset via the Ark, do you? Of course you don't. So why should I pretend to respect your Iron Age beliefs, or act like they have any historical validity or moral authority, when you just pick and choose from it yourself? :conf

But Haggis, he never claimed any of the shit you just attributed to him.

He just said he was a Christian.

That means different things to different people.

To some, it means Adam was created 6000 years or so ago, and Eve came from his rib, and God had to invent language to keep Adam's descendants from building a tower so high it would reach God's pad, and a great flood wiped out all living things (including sea creatures) that weren't in the ark and so on... Stuff that clearly didn't happen.

To others, it mans following the teachings of Christ and maybe hoping for an afterlife situated somewhere outside of the physical universe as we know it.
There's a wide range of religious beliefs that do not involve fire-breathing fundamentalism...of the Christian, Islamic or other persuasion.

As much as I don’t give a fuck what anyone else believes, I don’t think there’s any possible way you can believe in the literal versions of science AND whichever holy book you’re choosing.
yet many of them do and higher power belief is highest in those with genius IQ levels
