What are the best features of CHB? What are the worst?

Currently working on what could be described as CHB 2.0

This will hopefully be a massive step forward in terms of user interface, speed, appearance, quality and just about everything. This won't be immediate, could be a couple months at least as to do it right means it's a big project.

What I want to know is what are the features you like and need most from CHB - notifications, pm's, smileys etc. Better social media features? Chat rooms?

What don't you like about CHB (you don't need to say downtime - that's not what this is about), and what could be improved.

Try to avoid this turning into a debate on moderation style, as that is a separate issue and not what I'm looking for with this thread.

Guys - this is your chance to get the most out of the forthcoming upgrade, if you don't list it here, I'm probably not going to know about it and thus can't factor it into the changes.

Can you change your avatar? It looks like he is sucking an invisible cock or something. Other than that, everything is dandy.

Oh, one more thing, you can answer questions about the donation function. Does donating via credit card give you any personal information?

i think the front page needs articles posted more often....that is something that could be a special thing right there...that front page and articles coming of it could be one of the main boxing news sources - if news was posted....and not even news, other original articles on anything boxing related....boxing history is my main interest and articles on the front page on boxing history every now and then would enhance it too i think.

chat room is something that i see working well on some other forums actually.

apart from that, and (which you asked us not to talk about) speed issues.....theres a lot right about here too.
i can't ignore the speed issues...get that sorted....front page busy and quality control on the front page (i seen some awful articles, misspellings etc on esb for a while)...then before the place gets a worse reputation because of downtime....you could still turn this place into something really good...and more quality posters will consider this a place to set up camp.

The moderation sucks ass. Quit using affirmative action in Bogo's case and get rid of Matty as Bernard and get people that would actually be fair. As much as a bunch of posters think I'm a racist prick, I'm brutally honest and my skin is a little thicker than these pusses. I'm definitely not volunteering, but some of this shit is ridiculous. Bogo bashing the shit out of a high volume poster for posting a slip bag vid? The guy surely ain't the most talented, but the negativity is astounding, especially by a mod. Almost forgot, don't get your friends on the team. Trouble will come from that.

Fuck off Rick Ross. It just couldn't be avoided. Ask me to shut up and I'm gonna do the complete opposite. That's my biggest gripe is what I posted. Isn't that what Ferguson, MO wanted? More people in charge that were more like them. I post a lot and am loyal to CHB. I'm not going to sit on my laurels and shut up. If you want to ban me, fucking do it.

I love the notifications. That shit is great. The boxing forum just isn't active enough. Bogo is great there, he just seems to let personal shit have a go in the lounge. He's solid as fuck when talking about boxing even though I don't agree with all his assessments.

The only information I see on donations are your name and email address (if provided). That's all. Only I ever see that information, and I never share it, not even to the other mods/admin.

Donations help to keep the site running, to get potentially better server set up, potential upgrades to forum software, new addons/modifications, support, domain renewal costs, license fees, backup storage fees, extra disk space fees, any other adhoc fees that come from this. It's not that cheap, it all adds up.

I'm currently between jobs, which makes it harder for me to fund this, all the fees for CHB comes from my back pocket. In an ideal world the funds from sponsorship and ads would cover it, but the revenue from that has dropped from over £350 a month to less than £100 a month. Over the course of a year, costs are on average £250 a month, but steadily increasing due to the site's growth.

Damn, that's expensive. I wish I could donate some, but I'm between jobs and had a little money saved. I'm taking the time off to build an apartment for myself and that's around 20 grand. When I get back to work I'll donate a little, but I'm strapped homey.

Bring back the 'like post' function. Also, if possible, add a 'dislike post' function.
I see online communities with the upvoting and down voting feature and it does bring some ugly features to the forum, like click baiting comments and groups/cliques/bullying. Plus sometimes you will say something unpopular but there might be a good reason for it. Just a couple observations

When we had that feature though, I was killing it in the likes. Just thought id' throw it in there too :deal:smile

Not sure about features. Webm/gifv support could be great. especially for posting boxing highlights.

Better organized way for presenting round scoring. If it's possible then also maybe a historical record of your scores and a community consensus in the RBRs
