What does Lomachenko need to do to be considered an all-time great?

I appreciate I am opening a can of worms here lol, but I'm hoping some of us have calmed down from the hysteria surrounding Loma and his fangirl Dealt_with. He's clearly one of the very best fighters out there today, but far do you think Loma is from achieving ATG status? For me, I think if he beats Mikey Garcia, along with 1-2 other solid wins at 130-135, then he's there (doubt he'll step up again, especially with the WBSS on the horizon)

A win over Mikey Garcia would be enough for me. Most ATG fighters will have won a fight where it was viewed as a 50/50 at best before hand.

Let’s be honest Rob me and you can’t make a top 100 so we don’t know.Same as 95% of this forum.

I can compare him to modern ‘inductees’ of this hallowed land, but that’s it.

As for ‘most’ ATGs were in a 50/50.Surely you meant all.

Depends what you class as an ATG but if it's the top 100 then he has a way to go yet. He doesn't have a stand out win yet. Very good wins over all Russell Jnr, Walters, Rigo and Linares but none of them have established themselves as Greats either, well.Rigo in the ams but his pro work is very shallow. Not sure any of them will so he needs to cement it another way to make sure
There's big fights for him in Garcia, Pacquiao (should he beat Matthysse), Berchelt and then maybes even at 140 with the winner of the new WBSS so he has the fights to do it.

I'd quite like to see him establish himself as the guy in a weight class and at least attempt some form of unification. Amazing running through the three weights and picking out champs from them but we've seen plenty others do that and I'd prefer Loma to stay at a weight for a while and be dominant.

I think with his small frame 140 is his absolute limit.

He is a natural Featherweight and if I am honest I wouldn't like to see box any higher than Lightweight.
I didn't see the fight live and read sentences similar to your top line and assumed bloody he must have found it difficult - especially when I saw the knockdown on boxrec. Having watched the fight did he bollox - he chewed up Linares and suffered a flash knockdown by being sloppy. If you easily beat the best lightweight then super lightweight is a must. With his feet it could well be an advantage rather than a hindrance against bigger guys. A Mikey Garcia scalp will ensure him atg'ness when factoring in his amateur achievements too.

What if he goes his full career, viewed by the boxing public as untouchable because he is so damned good?
Is he to be kept off an ATG because of public perception, particularly when that perception is that he is the absolute motherfucking boy?

"He was that good, I thought he would win every single top tier fight he was in, that's why he isn't be ranked as great, he was too bloody good.."

I never said he found it difficult. I had him 7-2 up going into the round that he stopped him. However, Linares dwarfed him, they have weight classes for a reason.

Did he really? Why didnt the Salido rematch happen?
Salido made stupid demands and fought everybody but Loma. Loma was desperate for the fight for years. Talks about it briefly in the Team Loma doc how he was obsessed with Salido afterwards, but Salido wanted no part of it. Shame really and poor form from a guy that came in heavy and fought dirty throughout, should offer a rematch out of principle for me.
