Adapt, evolve and exit the planet or face extinction. It's the only absolute I believe in.
another distinct possibility is humans merging with machines into cyborgs.

one way or another though, we will have to leave the planet eventually, the sun will go red giant and evaporate us if we don't.

lucky for us its a while off, so we have time to develop technology to colonise the galaxy, but I reckon that's 10k years away at least.

Another thing I find mad about the universe is that we can look up at night and still see stars that ceased to exist millions of years ago.

Got to be space travel and other planet colonization

Growing up in the early 70s they speculated we would have bases on the moon by the year 2000, I guess after one of the shuttle losses they dialed back on human exploration but it seems to me now in the last say 5-7 years they have really ramped it up again

I know in places like Australia and Las Vegas, they are already using recycled water, got to be the rule for kids growing up on Mars or moonbases
My thoughts exactly when I started this thread. It has to be done and pretty quick as were fast approaching 10 billion humans on this planet now. I imagine we may see something like in the expanse in the next 50 years or so.

Seriously though, that simple retard, haggis mocked me and called me a moron (while we were still ‘forum mates’) a few years ago when I stated that it’s a high probability that food and water are going to be the biggest problems that the majority of the entire world will face in the next twenty years if the population keeps growing as it has. We were at saturation point then, the world cannot produce enough food whilst being able to “breath” to feed the entire population with the amount of fresh water available, that’s without factoring in climate change.

@Haggis
I feel like water isn't that hard to solve for. The whole damn planet is covered in it. Desalination is already a thing and I'd imagine like any other technology it can be improved upon and scaled up. If it came down to where we were dying and fighting wars over water I'm sure we could solve for it.

was it you who told me to check the show out? I've been watching an episode or two a day for the last couple of weeks nearly caught up to the end of Season 3 - good stuff.

No mate. I have only seen the first 3 episodes. Its something I've been meaning to watch all the way through. Hope I'm right though, I think once someone figures out how to make a killing from asteroid mining it's only a matter of time.

Even if we developed the technology to travel at light speed, humans are way too fragile to be going into space. We aren't going anywhere. We will all die out eventually, just like many species that came before us.

This thread seems to be running in a parallel universe to what is actually currently happening and the direction it is going.

We are not going to get as far as all this futuristic, leaving the planet shit. Modern technology has only served to show the 'Third World' what treasures are available in the 'First World' and they are now wanting it themselves. We'll either be bred back to the stoneage or nuked. The future is very bleak indeed.

Have a nice weekend.
