By any reasonable, full time employee standard, I do fairly ok. I probably work about 35 hours a week on average, which really isn't much. My commute is a 20 minute walk too, so I don't have much to complain about.
Ideally though, I wouldn't work at all and they would continue to pay me.
I generally work like a bastard between October and April, even do weekends too if there's any work going then ease off in the summer and usually drop to 4 day weeks and shorter days if the work allows.
I work night shift so it takes a lot of sleep to catch up. I don’t like it because on my off days especially the day after I work, I’ll sleep the whole day I’ll be awake at night and in Las Vegas, I don’t wanna go out past 12. There’s just nothing going and even then that shit gets old.
So on my 3 days off, I’ll sleep at night. I’ll go to the gym and half ass it. I should have more energy but I’m tired.
Half of my shifts are day shifts, the other half are lates or nights. 40 hours a week average, some weeks more, some fewer. It only takes 20 minutes to get to work so not much wasted time commuting. In the winter it's generally busier (more sick people, more falls leading to broken ankles, hips, wrists etc.) but summer can be quite quiet. I don't have it too bad, I get good holidays too
I work a 7 hour day with an hour lunch break. When you factor in the commuting, and all the necessary prep time for work around 10 hours a day revolve slowly around being in work, getting to and from work or doing stuff related to work. I don't ever work weekends and get every public holiday off guaranteed. Compared to the work/life balance of some people I think I have it pretty good but in general who wouldn't want more free time? The worst thing about work is you have to spend the majority of your waking life being someone you aren't, being forced to care about things you don't actually give a fuck about, being forced to spend the majority of time with people you may or may not even like instead of people you love. Sometimes, when I'm defrosting the car at seven o'clock in the morning in the pitch black I think about how I read somewhere that some prisoners can spend up to ten hours a day playing xbox. Maybe I need to kill someone.
