When's the last time you hit something - or something hit you - in your car?

Couple of weeks ago for me. My fault, turning out of a mall car park onto the road and got into a low speed collision with a dude who suddenly appeared out of a blind spot that I'd checked twice. Just really unfortunate spacing that he was hidden behind another turning car pretty much perfectly. Nobody injured, two insurance claims, going to cost me $500. First time I've hit anyone.

When's the last time you hit something with your car, or someone hit you? What happened?

Yesterday went hiking to Bamford edge in the peak district,
Rolled a bit too far back when turning around and bumped the wall, didn't do any damage Though.

Have accepted that im just going to run this car into the ground as its not in great condition so not bothered by the occasional pang.

This year.

We were driving about Scotland and went too quickly round a bend in bad light. Tyre hit a rock and was totally blown, and we cracked the coil spring.

Needed to roll it off the road and just camp up overnight. Called the aa in the morning and they took us to a wee local garage who fixed it.

It was a bit stressful because it was late and we were in the relative middle of nowhere, but we had the camping gear and the roadside assistance.

It must have much more stressful in the past when you didn't have mobile phones with the Internet and Google maps.

Few years back. Cop car crashed into me while I was stopped at traffic lights and they didn’t stop. I freaked out but they were actually cool about it. They got straight out apologising and making sure I was ok. Got al the details and it was sorted within a week.

I was driving an almost 20 year old Corolla which I just got paid out for as it would cost more to fix than the car was worth. Gave me $3500. Apart from some cosmetic dints and scratches. Car was fine so I just kept driving it like that

None recently thankfully

Come to think of it I’ve done that a few times recently when reversing into car sports and bumped walls. Thankfully I’ve got a tow bar on the back that takes the hit and I’ve been slow enough that it’s never done any damage

Last wreck was the other guys fault and he totaled a 78 Olds Cutlass that was in great shape. The accident happened on the interstate when he veered into my lane and chewed up the passenger side and actually climbed up and rolled across the hood, almost forcing me off the interstate while driving on an elevated portion about 30 ft. off the ground. My driver's side was pushed against the guardrail for a couple hundred feet.

Asshole fell asleep at the wheel. Idiot was driving on damn near bald ass tires, had no license plate on the vehicle, no insurance, not registered, etc.

Nothing but a cluster fuck in the end.

ETA: Forgot to mention, the asshole was driving a 12 yard dump truck.

My last accident was about 10 years ago. I got in 3 within a year and all were serious and none were my fault. I ended up with broken bones the last time.
I have been in over 10 in my life and only one was my fault.

Several years ago, a wild turkey flew into my front car bumper as I was driving into town. Incredibly no damage, but it was like getting hit by a brick with wings. Lucky that bumper wasn't my head on my motorcycle. (Helmets are optional where I live. I've always worn a helmet regardless, but that turkey's impact would've produced a clothesline whiplash effect. In the 1970's motorcycles were commonly utilized fuel savers in New Hampshire, while wild turkeys were virtually extinct. Today, it's the other way around.)

Castle Duckula.
Probably 3 years ago, maybe a little longer. Driving to the speed limit down a quiet back road, long winding turns with fields and trees passing by. The weather had been crazy, but dry for a few days which almost messed me up when a large branch came flying towards me hitting the bonnet and flying off into the rear view. Think if I'd have been going fast I'd have spun off, shook me up for a little bit, the sound was like I'd hit something big. Luckily very little damage had been done, but I did need it to take the car to the garage to sort out some scratches and dints.

I know a guy that hit a horse.

The young girl who was riding it left the poor thing tied to a tree and went off with a friend.

The horse got free, bolted, and jumped a hedge to land right in front of his car.

It was a country road, he was going pretty fast, horse went right over the roof, crushed most of it, landed behind him, someone else hit it and it died.

Ive hit a rabbit before on a country lane. It seemed to become so hypnotised by my approach/the lights that it made almost a cartoon, speeded up zig zag from one side to another to try and escape before I ploughed into it. It seemed so cartoon like that I sometimes think I must have dreamt it.
