Where is a good destination to go for xmas and new years?

I am looking to fuck off for xmas & new years. I want to do something different this year, so been looking at options for a holiday/vacation.

I was initially considering a slavic country in Europe, but now I'm thinking further afield like Kenya or Colombia. Both those countries I have wanted to visit for a long time, but just looking around at maybe some other destinations to consider. Ideally it would be a destination where it's warmer during our winter.

If you had the money and ability to do so, where would you go to spend xmas/new years abroad?

New York City. I've done that for NYE and it's pretty much ace. Times Square is ace on New Year's Eve and if you know a couple of NY residents they'll take you to a decent party after midnight.

In England - I don't know where you're based - Whitby, North Yorkshire or Robin Hood's Bay, North Yorkshire once again, are absolutely fantastic at Christmas.

Thailand or SE Asia in general?

I was there at Christmas the year before the Tsunami, so 2003 and it was great, weather was superb and the food was top notch... there with family so didn't experience the creepy sex tourist side to the place.

I agree with my fine friend Trail. Why bother with lesser civilisations, they inevitably disappoint. Stick to the US/UK.

Depends where you’re flying from and what your budget is really.

Krakow is a great option for New Year. 100k folk in the main square, fireworks, live music, freezing cold, loads of high quality/dirt cheap vodka, and bars/clubs open until 6am.

Been for the last few years and will going back again this New Years.

In Vegas-----trying my best to convince @DobyZhee to turn his life in a positive direction and be the man he hopes to one day become----because time is not on his side at his current age. If I'm not mistaken, he has said he's in his early 40's, but I could be wrong.

Get out of mom's house and get his own crib, get a vocation that is a career and not just a job, educate him on the finer points of how to make himself a person women want to shower with love and affection and not just take advantage of his kindness.

Boy, that's a lot to do in a week. Maybe I'll just sit at the poker table and try my luck there-------the odds may be better. :think1

I was just screwing around with my post about @DobyZhee. If I could be anywhere between Christmas and New Year, it would be at the Ally Pally watching the World Darts Championships since I am a huge fan of the game and have been following it for a few decades now. It's a given I'd not dress up in those clown suits and other costumes they show on the live streams, but I do know I'd definitely be partaking in the pints.

That would be one hell of a week of top notch darts like I've never seen live in my life.

My Dad used to go to the darts every year some years ago. He says it was absolutely fantastic. People getting pissed (drunk for you US folk) and partying like there's no tomorrow.

I used to work with a woman who went to the darts at Alexandra Palace last year with her fella. She said it was amazing. They've really ramped up the atmosphere now at darts. It's more than just darts, it's a party.

I reckon you should book flights Gumbo.

Ally Pally's a helluva venue G, you would not be disappointed. It's on a hill top with panoramic views of London. I've not seen darts there but a few bands (Pixies was the last one) and in the 90's I lived just a mile or so away in Bounds Green.

NY and England would be out of the question as I would prefer somewhere warm.
But the fall colors would be awesome to see before the real cold hits that area. I live in the deep south and not many trees fade during what passes for winter down here. Most trees keep their foliage, but some do drop a fair amount of leaves, especially the massive oaks that line many of our main streets.

Was there last NYE! One of the best NYE I've been to in a city and I live in NYC.

Yeah, I’ve been there for the past 3 years and will probably go again this year. It’s a great city for that sort of thing. Genuinely haven’t heard anyone go for NYE and not have an amazing time.
