I thought you meant 'there's no other way', and I was thinking tha was a bit harsh.Couldn't remember the song title last night. I could sing it you and I could picture the video and hear the guitar riff but I was determined not to google it. It came to me this morning.
Foo Fighters last album was good and the couple before that weren't bad either. They may not be at the standard of some of their earlier stuff, well actually a lot of the new stuff is better than some of the early stuff, but they are still ahead of the game when it comes to mainstream rock music. Not that they've got much competition like.Oh god yes. Loved the first couple of things both bands did then they just fell of a cliff. Foo Fighters are the most dad band around, even if I do really like Grohl. Muse saw a documentary or something and decided to write about stuff.
First four albums were bang on for me. Be Here Now was fucking class (though too long), first two were obviously amazing.Gotta be oasis really. First two albums are class and had they kept the b-sides unreleased, the masterplan as a third album would have cemented them as upper echelon. They never sucked, their remaining albums have some quality on them and im a big fan of noels solo stuff, but they definitely fell off.

Muse are imo the most talented band around and have a very underrated back catalog that spans multiple different genres. They just enjoy experimenting too much to ever stick to what they are strongest at which can be annoying. Ridiculous musicians though and still the best live band around.
Oasis is a good answer, incredible first two albums, shit after that barring a few songs on each album.
I think I put Kings of Leon on my list. If not, I was thinking of it. They had one good album.I really enjoying seeing Muse live, but the albums are poor compared to the earlier stuff. Foo Fighters are still better than most bands, but they are full on granddad middle of the road stuff these days and its sad. That isn't a totally bad thing, I like plenty of rock bands that have been around awhile, but they mostly get set into being a bit boring.
I'd add Kings of Leon who went from a decent little rock band to boring the shit out of every one which happens to be when they are selling more songs.
Aussie band ‘Birds Of Tokyo’ are the same, similar music and were great before they became mainstream.Kings of Leon are the definitive ''I liked them before they sold out'' band.
They were kinda cool at one point
But then they blatantly sold out...man...
I think there is a human condition that is wired into our DNA that makes us inevitably say about any band “I like their old stuff better”
Any band that is worth their salt, that you like for their music when they first emerge, are going to change enough for you to question where they are going
