Which television series do you believe to be underrated?

My top choice would be 'Penny Dreadful' If you are into horror and characters like Dorian Gray, Dr Frankenstein etc, this is a must watch. I don't feel it is given enough credit.

It wasn't a long running series (only 3 seasons) but it was gripping. I'm not even a big horror fan, but this had some good depth to it and the backstories made it interesting. Not just that, but the acting was really good, especially Eva Green, who, imo is severely underrated as an actress.

Yeah Penny Dreadful was an awesome show was gutted when I found out it was only ever going to do 3 seasons.

What's not to like, great production quality, good story, Eva Green hot as fuck and Rory Kinnear's performance as Frankenstein's Monster was unnervingly good.

Yeah, the casting felt perfect for it too. Billie Piper was surprisingly good too, always remembered her as a singer back in the days. Never knew much about her acting chops.

Dark on Netflix, I don't really see many people talking about it, at least nobody I know watches it.

Was originally promoted as a foreign Stranger Things but it's far darker, more sinister and complex in my opinion.

Counterpart too on Netflix, it's technically Sci-fi but it's more a spy thriller. JK Simmons as always is brilliant and Olivia Williams I think is a very underrated actress.

Billie Piper was a stage school kid who was "made" into a teenage popstar for a while. She's far more known for her acting now, and has done a lot of successful stage stuff as well as TV and film.

Boardwalk Empire. I consider it up there with the very greatest HBO shows, but most seem to think it falls down the line somewhere lower. I understand it fell off in its 5th and final season, but most shows do. Doesn't take away from the first 3-4 seasons.

Gomorrah. Not under rated per say but does not get the recognition it deserves.

I don't even know how Boardwalk Empire ended. I got about half/two thirds way through the last series and could feel disappointment stirring within the serious boredom that had set in. I just remember there seemed to be no pace and fuck all actually happened so I just didn't bother as it was damp squibbing.

Newsradio (especially when The late Great Phil Hartman was on the show) I always felt never got enough love.
I don't think it was underrated. It was regarded highly by critics (for whatever that's worth) at the time it was in production, but it was moved around on the schedule too much, then Khandi Alexander left the regular cast during season four. For me, her departure doomed the series even before Hartman's death. (My opinion is that Andy Dick should have been ditched to give Alexander more lines.) It went into syndication after season four, while Hartman was still alive, and he publicly speculated on whether or not it would be renewed for a fifth season. Without Alexander, even if Hartman had lived through a completed fifth season, that would have been where the series would have ended anyway with Dick in the cast. (Who'd you rather have continued watching, Andy or Khandi?)

Since Jon Lovitz had already performed with Hartman on NewsRadio, replacing Hartman might have worked if Alexander had remained in the cast. I'm not a fan of Lovitz, but I didn't mind him in NewsRadio.
