If you take this far enough you'll only be able to act as yourself. We'll only be able to watch re-enactments of cool things that happened, but only if all the main players who were present agree to play themselves in the movie

Presumably if this becomes a thing it will impact minority voice actors more?

There are more white roles, even in cartoons, so if people can only voice their own ethnicity then there will be less roles available.

I get the reasoning behind it. No one wants to be doing racist caricatures, and cartoons are usually played pretty large.

An actor could therefore easily find themselves doing an exaggerated impression of another race, which is problematic in the current climate. This could see them being "cancelled" and losing their livelihood.

I'm not sure that there is really a call for that across the board.

I don't think anyone, other than the usual online sjw's online, are calling for it. But that is the way the wind is blowing right now.

Lots of complaints about actors playing roles that they don't already conform to, be it sexuality, disability, gender, or nationality, white washing, ethnic characters in cartoons.

I can see voice actors being worried that voicing the wrong character could jeopardise their career. People are cancelled for far less than a borderline racist accent these days.

If they didn't let Christopher Judge play Kratos because Kratos is I guess, technically a white Greek dude, maybe...

I'd lose my fuckin shit

I don’t get it
I don't either.

Cartoon's by nature are OTT and not to be taken seriously, does it really matter what race or gender plays what fictional role.

Bart Simpson a ten year old boy the most iconic cartoon character of my generation is played by a woman which is something that never crosses my mind when watching The Simpsons and why should It.

It just seems weird that people would have an issue with something like which race should play a fictional animated character.

To go nerdier, many male protagonists in anime are voices by women, and couldn't be more inspiring as characters(given the medium)

Not a single white person on planet earth had an issue with White Chicks (played by black actors Marlon and Shawn Wayans)
