Who are some athletes 22 years old or younger who you are calling to be future ATGs, HOFers?

Kalyn Ponga in rugby league/NRL is only 20 and is already one of the best full backs in the game, I'd bank on him finishing his career as an ATG...unless he swaps to rugby union, there were rumours he might want to play for the all blacks some day.

Theres something about garcia that makes me think he is soft. I have no basis for this opinion, it's just a gut feeling. He has all the skills, the talent and the backing, but I have this bad feeling that when the going gets tough he may fade mentally and physically.

Hopefully I'm wrong.
Hasn't really been tested yet you could argue (few pro boxers really have after 17 fights to be fair) and Oscar will protect him until he's good and ready for a World title shot...

I see what you say about him fading when it gets tough, and he's still a bairn one could say - he's 20, but remember at 20 Mike Tyson was HW champion of the World, and at 17 Wilfred Benitez was a World champion, so I guess that blows that argument straight out of the water.

Yeah, I was reading about him this morning. That kid's all over the place when he's got the ball in his hands (and I mean that in a good way).

Didn't know you liked league
If there's sport on the television (within reason) and nothing else I'll watch it. I don't understand the rules at all and I couldn't tell you the difference between Union and League, but quite often I'll just watch anything mildly sport-like, even golf if it's one of the big 'uns.

Fair dos, league and union are pretty different, but both great.

Remember Danny Wuerffell of Florida back in the day being touted as an ATG and then got drafted to NOS and did absolutely nothing?
Yep, he's another one. Some more are LSU's Jamarcus Russell who played briefly for the Raiders and was cut. Brian Bosworth, Ryan Leaf and Russell Erkslaben come to mind without much thought.

I go through phases with rugby. It's a take it or leave it game for me. I do try and watch the State of Origin games, and a mate of mine who is a massive rugby fan told me I must watch one of the massive NRL rivalry games that was on some time last year - which two teams were playing I can't remember. As I said, it's a take it or leave it thing.

I rarely watch Six Nations, but if it's on and nothing else is, I'll have a look.

I remember the world were kissing Danny's arse before he moved from NCAA to NFL. His last year was the Gators - FSU championship game if my memory serves me right.

each to their own I'd be the same with soccer/football.

In MMA, Aaron Pico looks a dead cert to be an ATG.

:hat
Only himself or injury can fuck that up. He found out (immediately) that traditional boxing has to be adjusted a little for the mma gloves. Once he learned that he has been the most terrifying young prospect I've ever seen. What I also find fascinating, is that while he is 1 year past the standards of this thread, his teammate at the same weight(and they've pledged to never fight each other) A.J McKee may also be one of the clearest examples of a future great that MMA has. Coker can recruit the motherfuckers. He may not have the ability to ever get a promotion to become immune to the UFC buying them out, but he can recruit prospects better than any promoter their is.

Zion won't be the next LeBron. Their games simply aren't very similar. He could very well be the next Charles Barkley, though. A more athletic version at that. People complaining about a 19 year old still having fundamental flaws are laughable. He's a work horse with a good head on his shoulders and more than enough time to iron those deficiencies (namely his shooting skills) out. What can't be taught are his physical gifts, which are pretty much unparalleled in the history of basketball.

Ryan Garcia isn't even that good a prospect, in my opinion. Average, run of the mill hype job type that I've seen exposed a million times. If he wasn't handsome and charismatic, nobody would care.

Think he'll be a great player, and is an athletic marvel, but how is it laughable to point out flaws? Like people do every single year with prospects? Point is he's not far and away the next "Chosen One", or the second coming the way people talked about Bron and seemingly the way people brought him up in this thread. There were equally good prospects last year and even in the same class RJ Barrett is an equally good prospect, albeit not the athletic freak. His athleticism at his weight is pretty much unparalleled of course, which explains the hype. Not that that's all he has either.

I agreed he's not the next LeBron, but he's the most exciting prospect I've seen in quite some time. Barrett is not as good in that regard. Not as an NBA prospect. Not in terms of his ceiling.

In rugby, Jacob Stockdale is 22 right now:

and is already a Six Nations champion, as well as the joint record try scorer in six nations history (most for Ireland). He is scoring and playing at a ridiculously high level for his age, if he keeps up anything like his current pace he will go down as one of the best wingers of all time.
The top try scorer in 6N history is Irish. But it's not Stockdale.

He's not close.
