They still get hit...maybe not as much but they fight more and for longer...and when they fight other elite fighters they are getting hit by those elite fighters. That is beyond Muhammad Ali fucked-up, that is Gerald McClellend fucked-up.
Proof that even being super elite level is no guarantee that boxing will not fuck you up.
Winning the title at 17, against a Hall of Famer no less, is one of the greatest achievements in boxing history. It's a record I never see being surpassed.Hard to see a great champion like that to be honest. He captured his first World Title at age 17. Most boxers are still in the amateurs at that age, but he fought grown men at that age and got his first title.
That is one hell of a price to pay for what he accomplished as a boxer and it really pains me to see fighters wind up like that due to the damage they took in the ring.
Personally, I'd rather just die than exist like that because that isn't living.
Not just some fringe champ either. Antonio fucking Cervantes.Hard to see a great champion like that to be honest. He captured his first World Title at age 17. Most boxers are still in the amateurs at that age, but he fought grown men at that age and got his first title.

I can't even bring myself to click "play" on that - just the screenshot alone is heartbreaking.Unbelievably sad.
I don't want to see it either. Sometimes there are things on youtube which somehow is suggested to watch like someone even on a skateboard wiping out and I don't like to see it. I don't have curiosity of people's misfortune. A good boxing match or something like that sure? Good interview. Fine.I can't even bring myself to click "play" on that - just the screenshot alone is heartbreaking.
You must be new to boxing. That's the favorite quot of critics of defensive boxers like Mayweather, Ward and LaraSaid no one ever?
I'm well aware of that. You must be new to boxing. That's the favorite quot of critics of defensive boxers like Mayweather, Ward and Lara
