Dude, if I ever get like that, I'd like to be killed. That's a horrible way to live imo. No offense if it's Benitez wish to stay alive, but damn, tough pill to swallow.

That is beyond Muhammad Ali fucked-up, that is Gerald McClellend fucked-up.
Proof that even being super elite level is no guarantee that boxing will not fuck you up.

They still get hit...maybe not as much but they fight more and for longer...and when they fight other elite fighters they are getting hit by those elite fighters.

Hard to see a great champion like that to be honest. He captured his first World Title at age 17. Most boxers are still in the amateurs at that age, but he fought grown men at that age and got his first title.

That is one hell of a price to pay for what he accomplished as a boxer and it really pains me to see fighters wind up like that due to the damage they took in the ring.

Personally, I'd rather just die than exist like that because that isn't living.

Winning the title at 17, against a Hall of Famer no less, is one of the greatest achievements in boxing history. It's a record I never see being surpassed.

Then add to that the fact he started his pro career in 73 at the ripe old age of 15 years and a couple months old and it wasn't until 76 that he won the title at age 17.

That's a lot of punishment for a young brain to take as he made his way in his boxing career.

You really can't fault floyd's style in his later years when you watch something like this. Health is wealth.

I can't even bring myself to click "play" on that - just the screenshot alone is heartbreaking.
I don't want to see it either. Sometimes there are things on youtube which somehow is suggested to watch like someone even on a skateboard wiping out and I don't like to see it. I don't have curiosity of people's misfortune. A good boxing match or something like that sure? Good interview. Fine.

You must be new to boxing. That's the favorite quot of critics of defensive boxers like Mayweather, Ward and Lara
I'm well aware of that.
But this thread is about Wilfredo Benitez. So let's stay on topic.
