Depends whether this Government puts Police back walking the streets. Here in Paignton I have not seen a "real" policeman on the streets for at least Six months. Burglars and muggers just do what they like , without any danger of being stopped. Regards Mervyn The Gee

Media attention does not equate to a real increase in danger. Yes it is worse than it was 8 years ago, it's also not as bad as it was in 2006 or 2007 and I lived in London then, and never felt it was dangerous. NYC feels safe as fuck and is lauded for how safe of a city it is in the US...but has far more murders than London.

It still needs addressing, but one of the biggest things is the massive police cuts that the Tories put in. But that doesn't suit the agenda of some people, so it gets ignored. Separately, the dumb idea of ending stop and search that the Labour mayor backed won't have helped either.

You live in Paignton ? Beautiful part of the country down there.

I once spent a month staying in Brixham and the surrounding area. Absolutely lovely.

I've definitely noticed a fewer number of Police on the street walking a beat as they say. Used to see it pretty much every day and now not even once per week and I live right buy a large police station, literally 1 min walk away.

@ant-man, It may not matter to you or I, but that gang member is some one's son. My Grandson, aged28 was waiting for a bus in the Elephant and Castle area with his girlfriend and two others, when for no reason two young men pushed him and stabbed him in the leg, unfortunately for them he as a Black Belt in Karate, so does his mate. Both were suitably punished at the scene. My Grandson is Not a member of any gang. This is happening to decent people just walking the streets. As for London being finished, I lived and worked there for 55 plus years, my children and their families still live there and would not move anywhere else. Regards Mervyn The Gee

@MatCauthen, Yes Mat it is a very nice area but like most area"s of the UK it as it"s fair share of crime. Mostly violence on Saturday night"s in the Torquay area. We live about afive minute walk from the sea. In the summer? I tend to spend a great deal of my time on the beach. Regards Mervyn The Gee

As with American cities just stay away from the black areas and black people and you'll be safe in London. Those are the (hate) facts.
