Will London knife crime be worse in 2019?

to solve the problem, you have to acknowledge the problem.
The majority of knife crime in London is black males on black males so the majority of stop and search subjects should be black males.
Cut the bullshit and give the police the power to do their jobs properly and black males lives will be saved in the long run...

Obviously. And in Glasgow it was white males, as it was in Liverpool. But, yes, in London most stabbing victims and perps are young, black men. That has to be the demographic who would be stopped more. My point is that it should not be used as an excuse to stop any black male, which is what happened in NYC in order to pump up arrest figures. Because then you get a harmless person stopped, found with a 10 bag of weed and arrested. Suddenly we have criminalised a larger proportion of a community than the majority community, even though the use of that drug (for example) is no more prevalent.

But...stop and search in London has to target those who are the issue, and of course that will be more black men. It will also be more young men, and if it was done sensibly, it would not be young, black men in skinny jeans and hipster clothing, because most of the street crime in any city that is of the gang nature has a pretty repeated "uniform".

You are not seeing gang members in suits or with those stupid glasses with no lens in, and some metrosexual top.

It just needs common sense applied.

He was able to ride a moped, you can apply at aged 14. I think there is no doubt that he was a gang member. There are photos of him posing with fistfuls of money and using gang talk, he apparently also carried a large knife in his waistband. None of this excuses the fact that he was murdered . The age to ride a moped in the UK is 16 https://www.1driver.co.uk/minimum-age-requirement.html

is it legal to carry a 10 bag of weed in NYC?
No. The point is that it is a victimless crime and if you stop and search 5 times as many black kids as you do white kids, then even if an identical number of both groups use the drug, you will arrest 5 times as many black kids for it.

If you then give a criminal record to someone at 18 that stops them getting a job, you increase the probability that they will become a criminal for income.

In addition, if a community sees tons more black kids going down for minor drug offences than whites when all the data shows drug use to be roughly the same, then that community stops trusting the police and stops wanting to cooperate with the police.

Removing weapons and dangerous weapon carriers off the streets should be the sole focus of the procedure.

If you can't see the issue here, then there's no point in debating it any further and we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Whether knifings in London increase or decrease in 2019, there is one certainty, there will still be too many and each and every one will affect more than just the one life.

Some may not see the statistics as worrying. Rest assured your outlook will change 360 degrees when a stabbing is inflicted on one of your own.

@DB Cooper, Great analysis. In the thirties they cleared up this problem in Glasgow.. Could not happen in the same way today, they ignored a ;lot of the law as it was , but got rid of all the scum from the streets of Glasgow. But with sufficient Police on the streets in London the same results could be achieved, but needs backing from the Government and the public. Regards Mervyn the Gee

Sounds like a load of excuses, as usual, to me.
Victimless crimes are still crimes.

Don't carry a knife.
Don't carry drugs.
Do and you will be arrested and punished.

Life doesn't need to be difficult...

So you've never smoked weed and think anyone who does should go to prison? I presume you base your morals on what the government tells you is right or wrong?
