Serious lack of depth women boxing UK. Can't see boxing ever taking off and reaching levels where a lonsdale belt can be created
I’m sure it’s been stated that you only need 3 fighters per weight to qualify for a Lonsdale,I may be wrong though

Quite enjoyed the Amanda Serrano - Heather Hardy fight last night.

Hardy showed a lot of grit to last the distance after a torrid first round. Serrano was a better all round fighter though, sharper, more athletic, better fundamentals.

Do we think the Taylor fight happens next? Would prefer Taylor to rematch Persoon, but I doubt her team will be keen on that.

Hannah Rankin is fighting for the interim WBC Female light middleweight title next month in Malta. Her opponent is the 13-0 Swede Patricia Berghult.

Love the poster with the tiny 'Interim' :yep

This girls team must be the best in the business, they get her loads of opportunities on a regular basis

Serious question, do you think the fact that Rankin played the bassoon helps her get shots?

That's not a childish euphemism, she genuinely played the bassoon for a living.

Female boxers don't always have the highest profile, and it might give the promoters a decent hook to grab some attention. Being Scottish probably plays well in a lot of markets too.

The main reason is probably due to her ability, she is credible, without being top drawer.

Having a unique characteristic like that can't hurt, male or female. It's like Rendall Munroe and his job as a binman. Nathan Cleverly's maths degree. Nicola Adams being openly bisexual.

As you say, it's a hook for the press and gives them something to talk about other than the usual boxing story.
