It's almost that time for a new generation of games consoles, both platforms have had their initial reveals.

So I''ll pin a few videos up and dump any info on the two machines in here in the run up.

Any games console fans looking to buy at the end of they year, what's your preference or are you still weighing the two machines up?

Yeah I think the days of being blown away seeing something that looks like a massive leap forward seem to be behind us despite the fairly substantial leap in power.

I had high hopes for the Xbox X... still do. I'd like to see the next Warzone type game make full use of it's capabilities but I guess often it isn't until a couple years into a consoles life-cycle that you see the best it has to offer.

The Fable game intrigues me, I've been a fan of those since the first one back on the original Xbox.

Btw if you didn't already know......MS might be buying Time Warner's gaming division which if true will be a game changer. No more batman, mortal Kombat etc on playstation.

Hard to argue with the quality of ps exclusives. But remember they're paid to be exclusives they're not Sony owned. Microsoft just dropped the ball last gen like Sony did with the PS3

Enjoyed ps3 exclusives more as well. Naughty dog released 4 killers alone that I enjoyed more than any Xbox exclusive.

Looking forward to see what they do with Fable. I feel that the premise has been done many times now, so maybe they'll come up with something huge.

I'll probably get the PS5 for the exclusives and PSVR. I've read a few things about the coding being a lot easier on the PS5 than any other console, so it'll be interesting to see whether developers gravitate more to that console over the next few years. I might be wrong with this but from what I've read, it does seem like the PS5 is a bit more advanced.

That said, I don't play many games. For anyone in the know, what sort of changes can be brought to a franchise like FIFA or Madden with these new consoles?

I havent owned a console since the N64, but I'm always on the fence on taking the plunge. Though being one of the master race since childhood makes it difficult to sully myself with PlayStations or XBoxes. Still, I would have bought an XBox except for the exclusives being so much better on the PlayStation side. But the stupid reality is, I just can't bring myself to buy a PlayStation because 20 years later, I am still too salty about the PS1 with its lego brick graphics and endless load times beating the N64.

I liked Mario 64 and GoldenEye and Mario Kart. And the lack of constant, excruciating load screens and scratched discs.

There's actually a dx12 master race conversion of mario 64 with updated textures and models. It's hard to find but my little one loves it.

I missed the Spiderman game and really want to play the Miles Morales one they have scheduled on PS5.

I have the Spiderman game. Had trouble getting into it, but that's how I am with most games now. It is a beautiful game, the combat system is fantastic, and the web slinging feels amazing. The acting is good, the character is true to form...looking forward to the Miles Morales

I have a couple of One Xs and I still don’t think they’re anywhere near getting the full potential out of the machine.

But I’ll be getting the new one as soon as it comes out.

Haven‘t had a PS for years and really have no intention of getting one. The Xbox is a great entertainment system, as well as games machine and ticks every box for me.
