I think I'll probably hold off getting a PS5 until some decent games come out for it, probably Gran Turismo. Has anyone on here bought any of the sim racing things, wheel, pedals etc.? It looks like great fun with a PSVR so it'll be interesting to see how the PSVR2 looks too.

I didn't even realise that the Xbox Series X/S was out yet, the hype for both consoles seems polls apart. That seems to be reflected in sales too, with the Xbox selling about a fifth of the PS5 so far. I haven't been a gamer for many years but apparently the PS4 sold roughly twice what the last Xbox did, so is this an indication that the 'war' between Sony and Microsoft is over?

It's pretty cool to see the media hype over the PlayStation though, it feels a lot bigger than the PS4 did.

The Xbox sold out of pre orders within an hour or so... the hype for the machine has been huge and it’s had a smoother release so far with wide scale reports of hardware failure on the PS5

He's right though, the hype for the PS5 has been on a different level and early estimates suggest it's going to be twice as popular as the Xbox, despite it being less powerful and more expensive.

Not even sure how they've done but they've clearly built up some brand loyalty last generation which is following through.

PS is for casuals like myself. Who just want to chill and play spider man for a couple hours on weekends. Its like how the Wii used to be.

I think moving forward if they maintain this focus on backwards compatibility (or taking your library on to the next console) then a lot of people will migrate within their own ecosystem similar to what we see with mobile phones.

I know it was certainly the driving factor with me. Why would I give up my whole back catalogue of over 100 games to start fresh on a new console without a real incentive to do so.

I think it's difficult though to predict the success of the consoles at this early stage though. The Xbox would no doubt have sold a lot more units had they been available for launch day.

That'll be because of exclusives. I went ps4 over xbox because I wanted to play the sequel to the last of us.

I'll tell you what man, the Xbox Store is over-priced to fuck.

They're charging more for games now with digital distribution than they ever have before and now it's sans packaging, distribution, shipping costs. Common sense tells us that not receiving a physical copy of the game should carry a cost saving to the customer, not a price hike.

Plus Cold War Standard Version for the Series X is only available via the "Cross-Gen" version which retails for £10 more than the standalone Xbox One version. The point of that release was that if you bought it in November for your XBO and then upgrade the machine at Christmas or in the new year, then the version will port over to the XSX.

Great but I have an XSX now and don't need a Cross Gen version, so where the fuck is the standalone £55 game for that console?

Not to mention this bullshit pricing strategy now where they release 80% of the game for full price and then the full version(s) alongside it inc. "Season Pass" for upwards of £90.

I'm hoping the EU kill off the lootbox scam which has been running for a few years now but this greed is going to kill the console market... I refuse to buy the new COD for the reasons above. Thankfully CDKeys sells pretty much all of these games for a good £10 less than what it's sold for on the official console store.

Dunno if PS4/5 is a similar fuckfest.

Neither does Xbox Series X, it's an annoyance as I use a 21:9 1440p monitor for work purposes which I typically connect my console to.

I've been using the XSX on my TV though because I'm getting full 4K HDR10, I just don't have an HDMI 2.1 input to run games at 120Hz.

The games look phenomenal on the TV after playing on a monitor in 1080p for so long, I played through Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice the other night and it looked fantastic.

It's hard to find a good compromise here. I might get a bigger 4K 120hz monitor when they hit a reasonable price point.

Yeah the 1440p thing is annoying as that's something I'd utilise but I suppose the huge majority will still be playing on a TV which will probably be 4k.

Yes it does, they might not support Ultra Wide monitors but the Series X 100% supports 1440p monitors and downscale the image.

What kind of display are you on because it certainly doesn't give us this option on my 21:9 display.

I'll check the next time I'm connected on my TV but I've never had it on anything except 4K on that.

My PS5 got delivered Tuesday. Could have eaily sold it for £700

The headset I really like thought would hate it I loved my 2 pairs of Turtle beach but the PS5 Is better imo. The dualshock thought would love but prefer the PS4 dualshock lol

Sackboy
Spiderman
Bugsnax
Astro Playroom
Dirt 5

The PS Plus collection on 5. There is 20 games for PS5 owners. If you have a PS4 you can get those 20 games you just need to know someone who has a PS5. And trust them to sign into your account.

TRUST being the key word. It will be patched soon though

Even the old One X/S support 1440p but its possibly its something to do with Ultrawide monitors

I dont even know why people do not recognize that mouse and keyboard are superior for fps and many other games compared to controller. Not dont playing people who enjoy playing with consoles/controller etc but there is a reason pros play with keyboard and mouse.
