If Burn got his tactics right and moved. Think he could get a points victory at home

I think Broner would catch up with Mitchell for a late stoppage

Broner v Khan @ 140 - very interesting.

I think Burns & Rees have the best chance of beating him, but for different reasons.

Burns has superior range, solid fundamentals & enough pop to keep him honest. Rees would (hopefully) apply pressure & force Broner to work at a higher pace than he usually does, if he can handle Broner's power then 2nd half of their fight might get interesting.

Mitchell would get dropped & stopped, unless of course he is well prepared.

Burns win on points, utilisiing his jab and range. Rees would put up a very spirited effort, but get pulled out later on in the fight after taking a bit of a pasting. Mitchell get's knocked out before the midway point.

I don't see Broner having a problem with either to be honest. What makes anybody think either of those are going to trouble him in any way whatsoever?

Burns does not have the imagination to break through Broner's defensive shell. It's a matter of time before Broner begins walking him down, he doesn't have the power. You're talking different levels here, a fighter at least trying to do advanced things in the ring against a good solid guy that's mastered the fundamentals. But that doesn't bridge a gap in athleticism and talent, not even close.

Rees is far, far too small. They look at least 3 weight divisions apart in size. Rees just gets countered to death, he won't have seen speed like that and so what if Rees does have some success to the body? He's not going to cause Broner any discomfort. Broner just manhandles him.

Broner/Gamboa I'd like to see, that'd be the real acid test for whether this guy is as good as he claims to be.

I seriously think a lot of what Broner does is smoke and mirrors, HBO/whoever bang on about the 'next Mayweather' shit, people see the Philly shell and think he's the second coming.

Some of it is, yeah. There are flaws that HBO wholly neglect to mention, they're very keen to build him as the next Mayweather which is unsurprising given some aesthetic similarities.

His punching mechanics are not as good as Mayweather's. His right hand is looped ever so slightly and he slaps to the body sometimes. His jab to the body is tight though, very similar.

Doesn't really have a lead right hand/left hook like Mayweather does. He either waits for his opponent to commit himself or throws a jab from the outside. Nothing wrong with that but he doesn't have the same unpredictability and ability to discourage aggressive opponents.

His defence is pretty good though, and he is very athletically gifted. I think his power is overrated.

Still a level above Burns quite easily, and I'd put Burns another level above Rees. I honestly can't see Burns just throwing 1-2's and thinking that's going to outbox Broner. If Broner doesn't counter him once he understands Burns rhythm in the ring he'll simply walk him down. Either way Burns can't win that fight, IMO.

Burns out of all of them troubles him the most, the movement and range would trouble Adrien early, making him move his feet and working off angles with his long arms. Broner would have his hardest test to date, He'd be forced to think and fight at a pace against a bigger man. But it's when Burns slows down, when Broner starts pressing him and forcing him closer to ropes. Landing body punches, shortening Burns range and starting to general the fight. I worry for Ricky down the stretch. He tired against Moses in latter stages IIRC.

Broner could well be smoke and mirrors in his style. I mean he really hasn't faced any real offensive test but there can be no doubting he's one of the best finishers in the sport, he's got a lovely variety and speed to carry it off. His timing his so so, he's not got that radar that Floyd has but he's good at what he does. He's good but is he that good?!. Be a very good and entertaining fight. I'd need to study it more before giving a outcome..

Rees as Marv said is far to small i just can't see him dealing with Broner's speed and his strength i could see a late stoppage there as Broner punches well to body and hard cos he has leverage from his wide stance, Mitchell is a ok boxer but he comes to fight he gets KO'd, he boxes he gets....KO'd.

He's not all that. Neither is Burns so 50-50.

Broner has beaten NO ONE of note at 130 really, Litzau was impressive but he's never had a good chin.

Let's see Broner at 135 and above, think he'll get found out.

I think he'd put away Gavin in 6 or 7. I think Broner would just completely nullify his attacks, Rees's energy and morale would be sapped very quickly by the fact Adrien would just be far too strong up close, he'd counter him on the way in, Rees would be missing and hitting arms and elbows most of the time. Essentially the same thing happened against Kotelnik where he was just walking into stuff and wasn't big enough to be effective, and I know Rees has improved but Broner is a lot faster, a lot more natural a counterpuncher and better inside than Kotelnik. He'd break him down a lot more quickly.

I agree pretty much with your assessment Mand. Not sure how much joy Burns would have with the jab early, its possible it could be a factor. But I don't see a feasible way for him to win the fight like that. Theres a lot of assumptions you have to stretch to get to the idea that would win the fight. First you have to assume Broner can't outjab Burns. Broner's handspeed is faster, that's only one factor but its a pretty tight jab technically that he shoots from out of your eyeline. His jab to the body is hard and keeps you off balance. Also compared to Burns he moves his upper body a lot more to roll with punches whereas Ricky has a reactive defence so you could see him off balance which would allow Broner to get the better of that battle. Then you've got to look at the fact that even if Ricky established the better jab, Broner is a more natural counterpuncher, and in fact Ricky has never faced a good counterpuncher. Ricky does fight to a ditinct rhythm where he establishes his jab, followed by the odd roundish right hand and left hook downstairs before showing more movement. That's exploitable for a smart counterpuncher. Then if all else fails Broner shows the ability to walk down and punish a guy when he's got a feel for what you have. Is there anything in Ricky's arsenal likely to discourage him?

Gamby would be the best test. I still wouldn't know whether he was deserving of the level of adulation American TV seems willing to dish out, if he beat Burns. I think except for a few excitable individuals we're realistic about what Burns can and can't do. He's not elite, but he's solid. Beating him easily would suggest you're very very good, but I don't know to what extent.

Even if Gamboa outworked him in a close contest, I'd be comfortable acknowledging Broner as a long term factor possibly even up to welterweight. I'd be looking for how he dealt with somebody with gifted offense. Who isn't completely outmatched physically. Who has speed and power and punches in combinations. I do think his shell is pretty natural, you can spot a poser a mile away. It would be important to see how that holds up.

If the size difference isnt overwhelming then I'm confident that Gamboa would beat Broner quite handily in an entertaining fight.

Gamboa is the most complete offensive fighter around at the mo, imo

I've always thought Burns beats him. He has a solid jab and is good in every department.

Rees would try and pressure him and force him into a fight. But I think he gets taken out late.

Mitchell is stopped by half way, as is Murray.

What's important to remember is that this is the same Adrien Broner who was tested (and got a gift IMO) against Pounce De Leon

If you ask me neither Burns or Mitchell (who I think beats burns) would beat broner. And if Broner fills out as far as 140 neither does Khan, so im thining the only one who can beat him is Brook who is just to big and possibly as skilled (or atleast he will be by the time broner is that size)
