Even the biggest Hearn detractors can-not deny that this is a good fight and a good bit of matchmaking.

I can't wait for Burns next opponent to be named, unless it's a truly world class fighter, there will be uproar.

G-Brones finna be swanklin' on this rass ya'hurrrrrrd.

:broner

He's had like 4 fights confirmed in the last week so I'm still kind of apprehensive here. Not a great fight or anything but considering he's staying pretty active it's decent enough. Ress could cause a problem or two but the Can Man should have this, wouldn't be surprised if he stopped him late on.

Ultimately I think Rees gets outclassed in a way similar to Barker against Sexy Serg. Broner is the truth and will probably win nearly every round before stopping Rees around 8/9 IMO. But I don't think Rees will embarrass himself or look out of his depth at all, and he may get another title shot somewhere down the line after this.

Not a bad fight at all but I think Broner will have too much for him and eventually get the stoppage. Abril would've been the better fight for Rees IMO but hopefully he'll put up a good enough fight, like Macklin, where it will give more opportunities in the future.

Eddie Hearn: "If you look good in a big fight on HBO, you can get another big fight on HBO even if you lose."

Another, dinosaur-esque promoter: "Why would you want to fight on HBO when you can fight on BoxNation?"

I think Gav gets stopped a bit earlier tbh boys......Shows heart an will, but just not good or clever enough on the night to have a telling effect.

I think we are about to see Broner take a huge step up in his all round game......Hes getting better every fight IMO.

According to Billy Nelson it was Burns' choice not to take the fight, not Warren's.
Wonder if it was more Ricky's or more Alex Morrison's. Interesting nonetheless. It's not looking good from his side all this, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt one last time that after December's debacle and 6 months out of the ring, they just want another fight in January before looking at possibly the May 4th date.

If he doesn't fight Broner sometime in the spring or summer then well, we'll know exactly who's ducking who. Unless Broner moves up to 140 after Rees because he's tired of chasing Burns, in which case Ricky had his chance and I can't exactly blame Broner and Golden Boy.

I'd like to see Broner in with Burns and Vazquez before moving up though. Plenty of time, he's still young, still relatively inexperienced, still progressing and new to this sort of level and the big fights at 140 like Garcia and Khan are going nowhere for the time being.

If Cleverly turned down a Dawson, Hopkins or Shumenov fight in this fashion I would no longer be a fan. I am a Burns supporter, but it's saddening to think that he turned it down because he felt like he couldn't win. Test yourself. I've not heard from Ricky himself, so this is merely based on what I can surmise from various sources but it just looks like he completely bottled it.
