I know some people slag Helder off and say he's shit, but he's been slipping in the Shades of Ali a bit lately and it hasn't gone un-noticed. People say Helder's thick and not quick off the mark, but he's done good this week.

check out these bits timestamped

I actually think he's decent. He asks decent questions and that's the point isn't it?

It's better than Kugan and his endless self absorbed "banter" with his interviewees.
But he doesnt. He just repeats exactly what hes just been told, in the form of a question

Hearn: we want to do everything to make sure wilders the next fight for joshua
Helder: so, do you want wilder to be the next fight for joshua?

Peter fury: i think joshua wilder needs to happen. Id love to see it
Helder: is joshua wilder the next fight youd like to see?

Absolutely useless interviewer.

Haha just reminded me of a interview he did with Eddie recently. Eddie was talking about something, James then asked a question right after Eddie had given him the answer and Eddie said "James, where you been for the last 2 minutes?"

The IFL guy who interviewed Hearn yeasterday was decent, don't know who he is but he asked good questions.
Agreed, I thought that too. On another level to Helder and Cassius.

Helder seems like a nice bloke and I wish him well (no Hoolan), but he's utterly dreadful when it comes to interviewing. Kuggan just comes across as a prick with a massive ego.

I could be wrong and @Chinny will know better but i believe it was Declan Taylor. I agree it was different less pally but more professional than the usual IFl questions.
He was excellent I thought. Asked very good questions and you could tell he's big into the sport and also the business side of it.

The only mistake he made was referring to Shirley Winkel as "Shelly Finkel".

Yeah Declan Taylor. He's a real pro, a proper journalist. It was a pleasure to watch him work out in Germany for Eubank vs Yildrim. There was only him, no quotes and myself from the U.K. and Declan hustled every bit of mileage out of the trip:

- phoning in and sends copy to The S*n on the mini riot in the crowd
- report for The S*n
- report for Boxing News
- camera all set up to film the press conference for IFL (similar to what he did there for them at the New York conference)

He's also a sound, funny bloke.

I'll take your word for it mate, in all honesty I just can't stand Kugan's "I'm part of the boxing scene so I'm gonna just banter with you endlessly rather than ask anything" nonsense that I think the straightness of Helder is just better.

No doubt I'll not be able to escape hearing him just repeat what the interviewee has said now?

James "you're looking very dapper today" Helder

I can't stand the interviews with him. The poor guy is incredibly thick but still uses words he has no understanding of. If he just accepted he was thick and interviewed as such, it'd far more bearable.

To be clear, I have no problem with him being as thick as shit, just his interview style. Always asks the same things, trips over his words and uses words that make no sense in the context (or mispronounces them).

"I'm here today with a very dapper looking Eddie Hearn. Looking very sharp mate! Tell me, what are your thoughts on perfunctory situation with Deontay Wilder?"
