This is the line that sums it all up for me though:
"The WBC decision has raised eyebrows, with Khan being placed above the likes of Ed Paredes and Leonard Bundu who are both on long unbeaten runs."
Yes, because Paredes and Bundu are fully deserving of being highly ranked.
Wind your neck in will you. Bundu is an unbeaten fighter with no blueprint on how to take his 0. Paredes has not been beaten since 2009, when he changed the blueprint on how to beat
him, and only last year scored a sensational knockout win over former title holder Vivian Harris. He also holds a victory over former WBA Fedelatin welterweight title challenger, Hector Munoz, again by knockout. If you remove a points loss against former WBO NABO light middleweight title holder, Carlos Molina (never stopped in 29 professional contests), Paredes has not tasted defeat in over six years.
With better promotion both guys would be seen as absolutely top drawer and it is a credit to the relative impartiality of the WBC that they are recognised as being among the top five fighters in the division and in line for a title bid against P4P King Floyd Mayweather. Matchroom could have a look at setting up a 'foreign legion' division in their stable and either would fit snuggly into the third slot of Mayweather's megabucks six-fight deal with Showtime. Make the call Eddie.
