"I'm in a tougher division, I'm fighting better opposition and I'm a bigger name than him. That's what burns him really.
That's Khan speaking about Carl Froch in a recent interview with the BBC.

Froch wasn't trying to criticise Khan when he said that Amir should retire, he was just offering his fair insight. Khan responds with something like this. This is precisely why UK fans don't like Amir. I mean, plenty knock him for his fighting style and ability - not me personally, though he's flawed I like Khan in the ring he's exciting and always tries to fight the best out there - but most dislike his attitude, and from this recent article it's hard not to see why IMO.

Khan is an idiot and is always saying stupid things, I still back the guy but can see that he doesn't do himself many favours, I'd hoped he might have gotten wiser as he grew up!

In mitigation the bbc are largely to blame for this having quoted Froch out of context. Froch said if he had just lost like that he'd retire, thats speaking as a 35 year old 3 times champion, not that Khan should quit.

But people like Froch and he says loads of things that can be taken as disrespectful.
I agree, Froch can be a bit outspoken and cocky too and it does get on my nerves at times, though I've never encountered him to be as petty as Khan is being here. It's just the situation for me which sheds light poorly on Khan here; Froch isn't knocking Khan, he's saying an honest opinion which a lot of people are thinking, and then Khan has responded in quite a personal and petty way IMO.

That's just my slice. I'm kinda disspointed in Khan here

1/3 of that statement is correct, at least. He is likely a bigger name than Froch is.

I agree with and <3 @Teeto though(no homoilow). Froch has said his fair share of nonsense himself over the years from what I remember.

I don't mind people being cocky, there's nothing wrong with confidence even if it crosses into the realm of cockiness imo, and a lot of the time, if people could learn to loosen up their screwed up faces they might find it funny.

What I meant was that Froch can be disrespectful to the sport, like when he's going on trying to convince everyone that Andre Dirrell is a shit house because he is a 'runner'. There's no strict way in which you have to fight. Boxing is called the noble art, not the noble science. You can do what you want in the ring as long as you're not cheating. Froch tried to make out to everyone that Dirrell is a shit house unless he stands there and joins in in a mad slug fest with him, but the real reason was that he knew that Dirrell would outbox him on the back foot.

I find it disrespectful that many forces of boxing today are trying to turn the sport into a mad pub brawl type event. I enjoy watching all styles of boxers. People are so on Froch's dick, but they despiise Khan. Lots of peope have despised him before he even opened his mouth in the circles that I personally have moved in, and in the wider circles. I can't count how many times I've been told Khan thinks he is the new Naseem, whatever the fuck that means.

Strongly agreed. There's nothing wrong with not beating a guy senseless, as long as you beat him by the rules of the sport.

I do agree with you, criticism of Khan can be taken too far whereas Froch these days seems to get a free pass.

But I remember on ESB when every one of Froch's comments got ripped apart and scrutinised by the wider audience. This was before he had constructed the resume that he has today. I mean, Froch was a figure of hate on the ESB general forum until he battered Abraham and started building a world class resume and establishing himself properly at world level. That's when his comments started getting less scrutiny. I mean, with Khan at this stage what he's saying is going to get a lot more slack because he has stepped up and failed to establish himself at the top level and build a quality resume, he's more open to criticism. Particularly when he say's things like he is a top P4P fighter, I mean, you rarely here Froch stay stuff like that. < That there isn't any sort of justification for this, it's just a point of interest as to why Khan get's some of the criticism he does IMO.

I mean, I fully get what you're saying teets, but right now what Khan said is a bit out of order and I just can't shake that.

It must just be me, I don't mind fighters talking absolute shit about how good they are, even if they're shit. I'd rather they be delusional and tell themselves they are brilliant than they admit that they are shit. You're bound to get beat if you believe you are shit.

I remember Graham Earl, after Khan ripped his head off, he said something like 'he can't beat me, that's my division'. That's probably one of the most absurd things to ever say, but I wasn't assed, who's assed? Nobody kicked off and called him out. It's all good. Fighters have a hard job, I don't care about them thinking their amazing when they're not. Whatever they need to do to boost their confidence, I'm fine with it.

That's just me though.

Khan & Froch has been sniping at each other for years, they clearly just dont get along.

Perhaps Froch is a touch envious of Khan's rapid success & earnings, he has certainly said some regrettable things in the past. I remember him claiming he retired Kessler because of damage he caused his eye :-(

Most fighters come out with silly statements at some point, Khan's seem to be more deluded than most.

Well Froch said that he'd retire if he was outclassed, seems to conveniently forget how the Ward fight went.

What I find annoying about Khan is when he'll say something and then then pretend he never has, like when he was talking to HBO he praised Garcia and the same in the statement he put out, then today he apparently said in an interview that it was a lucky shot. In the ring I can't fault him entertainment wise, his fights are always must watch for one reason or another.
