Carlos Takam stops Michael Grant in eight

2004 Olympian heavyweight Carlos Takam (28-1, 22 KOs) scored a one-sided eighth round TKO over 40-year-old former heavyweight title challenger Michael Grant (48-5, 36 KOs) on Friday night at the Gymnase du Clos de l'Arche in Takam's hometown of Noisy-le-Grand, France. Takam pressured the much taller Grant, often landing hard, clean punches to the head. The fight was waved off with Grant taking heavy fire on the ropes. Takam claims Grant's WBF title with the win.

:-( - Grant should just go away. How long is it since Lewis spanked him? :huh

Anyone seen this Takam fella fight?

Takam would be a great next fight for Lucas Browne. Browne needs to up his opponents and fighting somebody such as Takam in France will do wonders for his profile.
Watched sections of that Takam vs Grant fight, and it's hard to judge how good Takam is because Grant looks ordinary. He was lucky to get out of jail against Botha not that long back and is on the way out.

Takim vs Browne? Would be a pretty big test for Browne. But if he's going to go places, why not?

He needs to fight in Europe mate, no disrespect to Aus but he's getting no recognition down under by America or Europe. Look at the hype surrounding Wilder, Browne should have the same level of interest yet he doesn't, not yet anyway.

Takam is the African heavyweight champ and is based in France, he's also a step up IMO from anybody Lucas has fought already.

Makes sense to me, but then I'm not a boxing manager or promoter!!

I'm not going to disagree with your logic. But don't forget Wilder started with a 10x bigger profile than Browne because he comes from a country with 10x as many people and was their only boxing medalist at Beijing in 2008. Consequently coming out of that Olympics he is the boxer the US focussed on.

Even just going by his world ranking and the Grant fight video, there's no doubt in my mind Takim would be the best opponent Browne has faced.
