Amir Khan will be looking for a trouble-free return to his home country this weekend as he takes on Julio Diaz at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.

Khan, now 26, has built up an impressive list of names over the past few years, with wins over Andreas Kotelnik, Paulie Malignaggi, Marcos Maidana and Zab Judah, although he suffered defeat in his last two major fights against Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia.

The Bolton light welterweight rebounded with a win over Carlos Molina (not the light-middleweight Molina) last December since working with new trainer Virgil Hunter.
Check out my full preview and prediction for the fight here - http://checkhookboxing.com/content.php?713-Khan-vs-Diaz-Fight-Preview

How do you see this fight going and can Khan return to top level fights at 140 lbs later in the year?

I imagine khan will win, bold pick I know.

As to if he should return to the elite level, imo he needs to be managed VERY carefully, he's surrounded by guys who could basically end his career by stopping him again.

It depends what kind of fighter Hunter is trying to mould him into, if he wants to teach khan to defend without running, slip punches, counter off the ropes, use his brain etc , it's going to take a long time, and he'll need to be moved very slowly.

I think this will be an interesting fight as it'll answer those questions about where hunter is trying to take khan,

Golden Boy dont care anymore, they're letting him wait around til the sacrifice him to Matthysse end of. He ain't a ticket seller, not a PPV star, he's just a bit of a name, so Golden Boy will use him as a stepping stone for Matthysse after he wins this little tournament, they dont care about his progression

Golden Boy might not, but they can't force him in a direction that he and the people around him don't agree with.

Hunter is nobody's fool, he's not going to send khan into an Unwinnable fight against matthyse for peanuts. he's got to think about his own reputation

how much say will Hunter have? If Golden Boy want him to fight Matthysse or no-one, then Khan would have to pick no-one and he wont do that
