Pretty poor year for HOF inducees this year. Nearly as many observers as boxers and although I love Gatti, he opens the door for the IBHOF to be swamped with B-level boxers from now on.

No probs with Hill or Yuh though but they haven't got that star power that has attracted people the last few years. Could think of a fair few boxers more deserving than the five guys going in this year.

Yeah true. Though there's an argument to be made over what criteria they should use to get in the HOF. Whether it should be the top fighters or people who brought a lot to the sport, if you know what I'm saying.

Either way CHB's HOF is gonna be the future GOAT.

Yeah I can understand the Gatti argument, the guy was in great fights and di bring a lot to boxing but every year from now on is going to see some huge arguments and it's going to end with people saying "well, if Gatti is in" and there will be no way to argue back. Forrest, Corrales, Mayorga are going to have to be certs. They won't put Naz in and he was in just as exciting fights and brought a whole lot more to boxing than Gatti did so there is an element of bias there.

Agree with statement. Although Gatti entertained in many fights was he an all time great? Always thought Virgil Hill was underrated (probably due to freezing against Hearns). One omission for me would 2 weight Champ @ Bantam & Feather Harry Jeffra. he's been on the ballot long time.

Regards Gatti, he won WBC Light Welter & IBF Super Feather titles & I think an IBA title @ 147 but not WBC.

A lot of Gatti's entry is based on sentimentality really, what with his passing being not too long ago and many of the BWAA people having followed his career pretty closely. In an ideal world, a place in any sports-related hall of fame would be reserved for true, elite "greats". Well, at least I'm guessing that would be most people's view, but I suppose at some point you're going to have a shortage of those and it then becomes a bit of a popularity contest.

CHBHOF>IBHOF

That said, Gatti became a bit overrated, or maybe it was just that he was very much loved and appreciated a lot more so than being overrated. I agree with Pab really.

Virgil Hill was a class boxer, that's a really great win for Tommy Hearns to beat him like that at 175 considering where he'd come up from. He doesn't really have an ATG resume either though. But hey, I'm not knocking them, congrats and all that funky shit
