Bristol's Lee Haskins picked up the vacant British bantamweight title tonight in front of his home crowd with a 5th round TKO win over Martin Ward.

The event marked the first time in 15 years since the city had held a championship fight, and the passionate crowd at the City Academy were treated to an action-packed main event.

The end came with just 22 seconds left of the 5th when referee Mark Green rightly stepped in to stop the contest after Ward was hurt and unable to defend himself on the ropes.
Read my full report of the fight here, with a round up of the undercard action coming shortly - http://checkhookboxing.com/content.php?718-Bristol-s-Haskins-wins-British-title-with-TKO-win-over-Ward

The underrated southpaw
If only if he was from Sheffield and black.......:yep

Good write-up bruh, I'm liking that Haskins has become a lot less tentative recently, even if it did him no favours against Jamoye. A rematch is ideal, if they can produce half of what they did in their first one I'll be pleased.

Ah Dean Francis, looked world class until that shoulder injury derailed his career. Has forged out a decent career on the domestic scene since then though; his win over Tony Oakey was a memorable one.

Ninxe write up. How did you find sitting ringside taking notes?
Yeah it was pretty good mate. I probably could've done a better job of noting down which punches were landing better etc but thought it would be better to just make sure I got all the basics covered before getting over involved in the detail. But I guess I'd improve with more practice.

Definitely something I'll look to do more often and I recommend it to anyone else that likes writing articles and getting involved in things like this :good
