It was even worse as I imagined it would be.
When I saw a training vid the first obvious thing was his extremely poor punching, and on fightnight (against a somewhat moving target) it showed even more.
It's hard to imagine this guy is an athlete and trained for 8 months under Barry. Wich once again shows that talent is a huge part of any sport to be able to succeed in it.
He won because his opponent made Audley look like a volume puncher in comparison and nothing else. If the guy actually tried he would have KO'd Flintoff without much trouble.

So I had a good laugh, but I don't want to see him again.
Guys like this getting much attention while really good boxers were stuffed on his undercard can't be good for boxing in my opinion.

Fuck the haters.

Takes balls to step in the ring, even more when it's a pro fight against an undefeated opponent. Takes even more to get off the canvas (haven't seen it, heard it could've been a slip) and win. Congrats to him, just hope he doesn't feel the need to aim for a british title or anything, though it'd be a real impressive achievement if he could win it.

I think the haters will say that it was hardly a "pro fight" and his opponent being "undefeated" meant nothing. But yeah I do agree it still takes a lot of work and effort to give it a go. It was a bit of a mock of "professional boxing" and it's a shame that the general public only tend to get interested for things like this but it is what it is. I don't really understand the outrage from some fans and people in boxing. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

Like I said it was fun to watch, but it has nothing (not even remotely) to do with professional boxing.
I like to watch clips like "the mullet boxer" and "elusive fighter" too, but it gets limited attention. It is sad to see that the main event on a reasonable card is a kind of boxing variation on Dancing With The Stars.
Fun for once and we have a nice new gif clip out of it, but it should stay far away from main events from now on.

My opinion on it largely depends on what he does now. If he wants to give boxing a proper crack like he says, then fair play. If it was a one-off novelty fight, then it has been a bit of a mockery I agree.

I'm all for him getting in the ring again though. He's obviously not great but he's better than some journeyman I've seen British prospects put in with at the start of their careers. At least he throws punches, tries to get behind his jab, tries to establish his range a bit, throws punches etc. If he gets back in the gym for another few months and continues working hard and irons out his flaws, I'd like to see how he'd do again without the whole occasion. Now that his debut is out of the way, he can maybe settle down a bit more and box on smaller shows at smaller venues and try and be a bit under the radar.

So yeah, I'd like to see him in the ring again if he wants to do it. Preferably against an opponent we can measure against, like a common journeyman opponent of Dilian Whyte or Cornish or Dorian Darch just to get some sort of better measure. He should at least make a crack for an area title or something. If he bails after one fight I agree that it's just been a publicity stunt to an extent and made a bit of a mockery of the sport.
