I actually think this is a really good idea. That whole area is totally untapped by Boxing, why let MMA get there first? If you do it well it could be a licence to print money, good luck to them I say. Anyone know what the rules on pro-boxing in mainland China are?

There has been a few pro cards on recently in mainland China. Seem to remember Big Chauncy fighting Calloway(?) a while back, thing is its difficult to unearth any footage or really get any feedback from it because of the language barrier/censorship issues. Apparently there was a pretty large crowd in there though...

Well that'd be the Golden Ticket so to speak, for any Chinese promoter but its a similar situation to Cuba. They don't let their amateur stars turn pro, kind of a "why should we pay you, develop and look after you if you're gonna f*** off and turn pro".

If one did turn pro they'd be absolutely massive, of that I have no doubt.

Apparently the flyweight gold medallist is joining the WSB, so there is some leeway but they are still amateurs though really.
