Good article Dan. As a fan of Nonito, it is frustrating that his last few performances haven't quite lived up to previous expectations. I think Donaire will come good again soon and fights like the Nishioka one should hopefully bring the best out of him again. I know he blamed tiredness in his legs for his poor performance at the weekend and it may be a valid excuse, but he needs to make sure he's as fit as possible for the names you mentioned, otherwise they'll be beating him.

A 100% (or as close to as possible) fit and focused Donaire is still one of the better boxers pound for pound in my opinion. Hopefully he shows his best again soon.

Saturday's fight was a cracker though, and big credit to Mathebula for making it that way.

I'm a Donaire fan as well Roe, and I hope your right. In the past, Nonito has always turned up in style for his biggest fights, so that may well be the same again. But he was caught with alarming regularity on Saturday, and he can't afford to do that against Nishioka who has a great straight left. If he leaps in with that left hook, the Jap will find him.

On his day, and at his sizzling best, he beats every SBW on the planet, Rigo included IMO. And he is still rightly considered one of the best fighters on the planet.

I probably didn't give enough credit to Mathebula. He is a talk ranging boxer with good defence and a fine jab, so perhaps his style negated Donaire somewhat.

Very good stuff. I always said he'd look less dominant when he moved up and stopped fighting midgets.

Looks like Donaire is fighting Arce next, not a bad fight and it should be action packed while it lasts but i'd rather see him in with Rigo, Nish or Mares.

I suppose they could still have those fights down the line if he keeps winning.

Arce will make Donaire look a million dollars. Some have slagged him off for this fight, but I quite like it. Obviously I would have preferred Nish, Rigo or Mares as well, but it isn't a bad fight at all
